Cay village, Minh Thanh commune is a famous tea production and handicraft village in Tuyen Quang province. However, at one point, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa was forced to bring his family's traditional craft, leaving his hometown to find a place to develop.
Not because the profession in Minh Thanh had no place, nor because he sought profit in another land, but because the power source was weak, not enough to operate production machinery and expand scale.
Previously, when the State had not invested in new power stations, the electricity source was really very intermittent, often overloaded. Working in the wood industry like us, it was very hard because machinery could not operate stably. Even if there were orders, we did not dare to accept them, did not dare to hire more workers for fear of not ensuring progress," Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa said.
According to Mr. Hoa, the electricity is so weak that even energy-saving light bulbs only blink, unable to light up normally. To plug in a rice cooker, it must be plugged in from 3 pm, late for the rice to cook. In winter, the heater and refrigerator must be turned on two hours in advance to have warm water to use.

However, since receiving the attention of the local government and Son Duong Power Company (Tuyen Quang), the new substation was installed right at the beginning of the village, and the electricity source in the village has clearly stabilized.
In Mr. Hoa's wood workshop in the days leading up to the 2026 Lunar New Year, there are many products in the process of being completed. The ro ro sound, workers in the workshop quickly move their hands to move the wooden planks fragrant with new paint, quickly gliding under the gears of the cutting machine. The working atmosphere is always bustling as if both people and machines are sprinting.
Since Son Duong Electricity invested and installed a new transformer station, the power source has always been stable, people can use equipment such as TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners without worrying about overload or intermittency as before," Mr. Hoa said, and also said that when there is a new power source, he also decided to return to his hometown to continue working, not having to go elsewhere to earn a living. Revenue from carpentry has also increased many times compared to before, and at the same time created more jobs for local workers.
According to Mr. Hoa, each worker working at the carpentry workshop is currently paid 350,000 VND/day. In 2025 alone, although not yet specifically accounted for in books, his family's income is estimated at nearly 200 million VND.
Not only the carpentry profession has flourished, but the family's tea hill has also "changed its skin and flesh" after being invested in an automatic irrigation system. Thanks to stable power supply and efficient operation of the system, tea yield has increased 2-3 times compared to before. The quality of tea buds is uniform, the design is more beautiful, and the selling price has also been increased.

Mr. Do Truong Giang - Deputy Director of Tuyen Quang Power Company said that in recent years, the company has worked with all levels and sectors of Tuyen Quang province to implement new rural programs, eliminate wave hollows and electricity hollows in the area so that people have full electricity with stable quality, ensuring daily life as well as production and business activities.
In which, Vietnam Electricity Group and local electricity companies have invested in many power source and grid projects to ensure power supply for Tuyen Quang province.
Every year we invest about 700 - 1,000 billion VND in power sources and grids, equivalent to about 60-70 projects to supply electricity to villages, improve voltage quality and low voltage.
In Son Duong (old) area in the new rural construction phase (from 2022 - 2025), Tuyen Quang Electricity invested an average of about 15-20 projects with a value of about 200 billion VND per year to bring strong electricity to each village in the highlands," Mr. Giang said.
