Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee has just issued a decision approving the partial adjustment of the Construction Planning of the old Tien Yen district, Quang Ninh province to 2040, with a vision to 2050.
Accordingly, supplementing the planning orientation of Tien Yen 1 Hydropower Plant and auxiliary areas in the Tien Yen River area belonging to Phong Du commune (now Tien Yen commune) and partly belonging to Binh Lieu commune (beyond the planning scope of construction of Tien Yen district), in accordance with the increased hydropower capacity identified in the Adjustment of the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021–2030, vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister and in the Adjusted Power Plan VIII implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The expected capacity scale is about 8 MW.
Supplementing the planning orientation of Tien Yen 2 Hydropower Plant, auxiliary areas and 110kV power lines connecting from the area of Tien Yen 2 Hydropower Plant to the 110kV Tien Yen - Na Duong power line (Lang Son province) in the Tien Yen river area in Phong Du commune (now Tien Yen commune), based on expanding the area that has developed hydropower plant development orientation in the approved regional construction plan of Tien Yen district; in accordance with the increased hydropower capacity identified in Power Plan VIII and the Plan to implement Power Plan VIII. The expected capacity scale is about 14 MW.
In addition, supplement the planning orientation of Tien Yen Hydropower Plant, auxiliary areas and 220kV dual circuit power lines connecting from the hydropower plant area to the 220kV Cong Hoa - Hoi Hoa line in the communes: Phong Du, Yen Than, Dong Ngu (now Tien Yen and Dong Ngu communes). The location and specific capacity scale are determined to be suitable to actual conditions and regulations in the next steps.
Quang Ninh currently has 7 power plants, but they are all coal-fired power plants, with a total capacity of 5,640 MW, located in the area of old district-level administrative units, including: Dong Trieu, Uong Bi, Cam Pha and Ha Long.
