Gladiolus flowers are in high demand
Approaching the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, farmers in the capital growing gladiolus in Hiep Thanh commune (Lam Dong province) are rushing into the harvest season to supply the market.

Along National Highway 20 through Hiep Thanh commune, people bring gladiolus flowers to gathering points, working with traders, making the atmosphere bustling.
Mr. Le Van Thao's family, residing in Trung Hiep village (Hiep Thanh commune) is excited when flowers are in season and at good prices.
According to Mr. Thao, his family grows 0.4ha of gladioli, of which about 70% of the area is eligible for harvest to serve the Lunar New Year market; the remaining 30% blooms slower, expected to supply the full moon market in January.
Similarly, Ms. Vu Thi Nga, residing in Quang Hiep village, Hiep Thanh commune, said that at the end of 2025, gladioli production areas will suffer 5 consecutive floods, causing many gardens to be flooded and production to face difficulties.

However, after the water recedes, farmers continue to take care of them to be able to supply gladiolus flowers in time for Tet.
My family grows 0.2ha of gladiolus flowers and luckily the trees grow steadily. Although the flowers bloom slower than every year, they basically still meet the Tet market demand. Especially, this year the price of flowers is high, consumption is fast, the family expects to earn about 100 million VND," Ms. Nga excitedly said.

In Hiep Thanh commune, the harvest of gladioli for the Tet crop is carried out by people from December 10th of the lunar calendar and is expected to end on December 28th of the lunar calendar.
Early in the morning, when the flower garden is still covered in dew, people proceed to pluck the trees, roll them into large bundles and then transport them to gathering points to deliver to the purchasing establishment.
The source of flowers is then selected, packaged, preserved by refrigerated trucks and transported to provinces and cities across the country for consumption.
Prices increase sharply near Tet
Ms. Huynh Thi Hong Hieu, owner of a gladiolus business in K'Long village, Hiep Thanh commune, said that at the end of 2025, floods affected the production area, causing gladiolus harvest time to be slower than in previous years.

To ensure the supply of goods to the Hanoi, Da Nang markets and some other localities, Ms. Hieu's family started purchasing and packaging flowers from the 10th day of the twelfth lunar month.
This year, gladiolus prices range from 30,000–40,000 VND/bouquet; beautiful, carefully selected bouquets cost up to 50,000 VND/bouquet. While at the same time in 2025, the price is only about 8,000–15,000 VND/bouquet," Ms. Hieu said.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Hiep, Chairman of Hiep Thanh Commune People's Committee, said that the locality is known as the "capital" of gladioli with a production area of more than 200ha.
At the end of 2025, floods caused damage to over 400ha of crops, of which about 75ha of gladioli were completely lost.

To support people to overcome the consequences and resume production, the Hiep Thanh commune government has coordinated with functional agencies and banks to implement preferential capital policies for farmers.
Gladiolus production areas have been restored after the flood and basically ensured supply for the Lunar New Year market. This year, flower prices are higher than every year, so people have good profits and are excited to welcome Tet," Mr. Nguyen Quang Hiep shared.
