Less than 2 months, deep flooding 5 times
Hiep Thanh commune is considered the largest love flower capital in the country with about 200 hectares.
Every year, about 2 months before Tet, the fields ofhan flower fields here are often green and grow evenly.

However, this year, many fields in Hiep Thanh commune are devoid of lucky flowers. Local people said that in late November and early December 2025, continuous heavy rains caused water from upstream to flow, causing many areas of land for growing courtyards and vegetables to be flooded and damaged.
Ms. Ka Woen (27 years old, Hiep Thanh commune) said that her family planted 1,000m2 of lucky flowers to serve the Tet market. Although not deeply flooded like many other households, the mud layer covers the roots, causing the flowers to grow slowly.
"At this time last year, the courtyard flowers were all green in the fields, but this year the trees are growing slowly, it will be difficult to sell before Tet," Ms. Ka Woen worried.

Not only are the flowers slow to grow, many households cannot plant or plant late because their gardens are constantly flooded from 4-5 times.
Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, a resident of Hiep Thanh commune, shared: My family has 4,000m2 of flower land to grow flowers to thank God for Tet, but due to constant flooding, we have only been able to plant nearly 2,000m2. The area has decreased sharply, it is likely that this year's Tet, courtyards will be scarce, and the selling price may increase".
Lunar New Year Flower Production Forecast to decrease sharply
According to the estimate of the People's Committee of Hiep Thanh commune, the flood in early December caused complete damage to many areas ofhanh flower. The output of courtyards for the Lunar New Year is forecast to decrease sharply compared to previous years.

Ms. Ka Nhuy, a lucky flower grower, said: "Luckily, the family's 1,500m2 of lucky flowers were only slightly flooded, so they still grew well and were able to sell during Tet. In 2024, this area will only bring in about 15 million VND, this year the price is expected to be higher".
Not only gratitude flowers, many high-tech agricultural production households in Hiep Thanh commune also suffered heavy damage due to floods.
According to statistics from the People's Committee of Hiep Thanh commune, during the severe flooding on December 4, the whole commune had about 400 hectares of vegetables and flowers deeply flooded and damaged, of which 75 hectares of courtyards were completely damaged, and many other areas were partially affected.

Currently, Hiep Thanh commune has 639 households with severe damage to crops, expected to receive support from the province's Natural Disaster Prevention Fund with a total cost of more than 1.5 billion VND.
The local government has also established working groups to check and count the damage, and coordinated with the Bank for Social Policies to develop preferential loan packages to help people soon restore production.
