Vietnam Electricity Group has increased retail electricity prices to VND 2,204.06/kWh (excluding VAT) applied from May 10. On May 9, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also issued Decision No. 1279/QD-BCT regulating electricity selling prices, including retail prices for household electricity (applicable from May 10, 2025).
At the end of May, the Government issued Decision 14 regulating the structure of retail electricity price lists. Accordingly, the retail price list for electricity is shortened from 6 to 5 levels, the highest price (701 kWh or more) is 3,967 VND/kWh, excluding value added tax.
According to this new price list, household electricity prices are calculated on a scale of 1-5, equivalent to 90 - 180% of the average retail electricity price applied on May 10. Of which, the cheapest level is for households using less than 100 kWh instead of the current 50 kWh, while the highest level is from 701 kWh or more.
Retail electricity prices for customers using electricity for daily purposes include 5 levels with prices gradually increasing to encourage the use of electricity economically and effectively.
Step 1: For kWh up to 100 - The ratio compared to the average retail electricity price adjusted according to authority (%) is 90%.
Step 2: For kWh from 101 - 200 - 108%.
