10 days without selling anything
The whole market is about 3,000m2 wide but there is not a single person passing by on the 2nd floor. Ms. Tran Thi Loan (a trader at An Hai Dong market) can only sit and session on her phone, watching entertainment programs to relieve her sadness.
According to Ms. Loan, having been doing business here for many years, since the planning date to the 2nd floor of the trading floor, many traders like her have gradually lost customers. The stalls here are therefore constantly closed, they have to stop selling to work elsewhere.
"There are nearly 100 stalls on the 2nd floor, but now there are only a few dozen households still staying. It is so sad that some traders here sit and pick up vegetables, others watch their phones" - Ms. Loan said.

Only sellers cannot find buyers, Ms. Tran Thi Ly (born in 1961, trading at An Hai Dong market) told the story that there were times when for more than 10 consecutive days, traders here could not sell anything.
After working age, the inventory is getting hoarded, so Ms. Ly has no choice but to stay here with the hope of recovering capital and earning a few dong to spend every day.
According to Ms. Ly, since the new market was built, many businesses on the 2nd floor have continuously abandoned their stalls due to sluggish business and lack of customers. Those who are still here like her are all past working age, and the opportunity to find a new job is gradually narrowing.

There will be plans and orientations for market development

Recently, many traders, especially the second floor area, have been forced to close their stalls and abandon their stalls due to business sluggish conditions.
Talking to Lao Dong on September 13, a representative of the An Hai Ward Public Service Supply Center (in charge of managing An Hai Dong market) - informed that in the past, the unit has had solutions to develop the market system until 2030 but is currently facing some shortcomings.
An Hai Dong market is located in a small alley, while many consumers have shifted to the habit of going to supermarkets and doing business online. Not only that, most of the traders in the market also face great competition from street vendors, areas near the market...
