Connecting and cooperating for mutual development
According to Ms. Ho Thi Quyen - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), as an economic locomotive, Ho Chi Minh City always proactively integrates into the international economy, promotes digital transformation, develops a green economy, a circular economy; synchronously deploys many solutions to support businesses to remove difficulties and restore production in the context of a volatile world economy.
The city has issued many mechanisms and policies to help businesses change production models, increase the application of digital technology associated with the orientation of green production - green export, to improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods in the international market.
In particular, the mechanical - machinery and equipment industry is considered one of the key industries, playing a fundamental role in industrialization and modernization.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the country currently has about 3,100 mechanical manufacturing enterprises with 53,000 production facilities, accounting for nearly 30% of the total number of processing and manufacturing industrial enterprises. The industry has mastered many technologies, increased the localization rate, and participated in the supply chain for large corporations such as Toyota, Hyundai, and Samsung.
However, the mechanical industry currently only meets less than 30% of the equipment demand for the fields of energy, hydropower, renewable energy, etc. Products still lack accuracy, high cost, and limited investment attraction efficiency.
Digital transformation, green transformation
Mr. Do Phuoc Tong - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Mechanical - Electricity Business Association (HAMEE) - said that businesses in the association always create conditions to connect, share opportunities, form effective cooperation, and at the same time expand connections with businesses outside the industry.
The mechanical and electrical industry mainly serves businesses, with little direct access to consumers, so product and technology introduction activities are of great significance, helping to spread technological capacity and create more cooperation opportunities in the business community, he said.
HAMEE also aims at the "Make by Vietnam" model - a product produced by Vietnamese enterprises with Vietnamese intelligence, to spread the spirit of "Vietnamese enterprises prioritize using Vietnamese goods", contributing to enhancing domestic value in the supply chain.
According to Mr. Do Phuoc Tong, to reach the international market, especially demanding markets like Europe, businesses must carry out dual transformation, both digital transformation to improve governance capacity and green transformation to meet sustainable development criteria and Vietnam's Net Zero 2050 target.
Many mechanical enterprises have applied energy management solutions, optimized equipment, built a green - clean working environment, aiming to achieve ISO 14000 environmental certification. These commitments not only help businesses meet the requirements of foreign partners but also contribute to the national sustainable development goals.
He added that the export market is still fluctuating, businesses are waiting for partners to clearly identify policies and orders, but are still proactively improving capacity to be ready to seize opportunities when the market recovers by the end of the year.
Only when businesses prove their technological capacity, governance and ESG standards, can they access large, long-term orders. Otherwise, we will only stop at intermediate processing with low efficiency" - Mr. Do Phuoc Tong emphasized.
