On May 19, Mr. Nguyen Huy Sam - Director of HT House Construction Consulting Co., Ltd. said that currently the prices of many types of building materials are increasing, causing difficulties for contractors as well as homeowners when building houses and projects.
According to Mr. Sam, brick prices in 2025 are 1,800 VND/piece, but during the recent high gasoline and oil prices, brick prices increased to 2,700 VND/piece. However, gasoline and oil prices have decreased, but brick prices have only decreased very little, currently priced at 2,550 - 2,600 VND/piece.
The current price of construction sand is 400,000 VND/m3, while last year it was 320,000 VND/m3. The price of gravel is 370,000 VND/m3, an increase of 50,000 VND/m3 compared to last year.
In general, the prices of bricks, sand, and stone increase when gasoline and oil prices increase, but currently gasoline and oil prices have decreased, and the prices of those materials have only decreased very little, or even not decreased," Mr. Sam shared.
According to Mr. Sam, the prices of iron, steel, cement, and stone tiles (popular materials nationwide) increased slightly (only about 5%) when gasoline and oil prices increased, not as much as materials exploited and produced locally such as bricks, sand, and stones (up about 30 - 35%).
The Director of HT House Construction Consulting Co., Ltd. hopes that Ha Tinh functional sectors will strengthen inspection and control of construction material prices to ensure suitability, avoiding allowing mine owners and brick factories to speculate and increase prices unreasonably, causing difficulties for construction activities in the area.
Similarly, representatives of Dong Anh General Trading Co., Ltd. also complained about the situation of high construction material prices causing difficulties for business operations. It is worth mentioning that material prices increase when gasoline and oil prices increase, but currently gasoline and oil prices have decreased, but construction material prices are still high and refuse to decrease.
Representatives of Dong Anh General Trading Co., Ltd. also hope that functional sectors will strengthen inspection and control so that construction material prices in the area can be adjusted flexibly and appropriately to avoid excessive price increases that cause difficulties for construction businesses as well as people when building houses and civil works.

In the afternoon of May 19, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Construction Management Department of Ha Tinh Department of Construction affirmed that it is true that there is a situation where construction material prices increase when gasoline and oil prices increase but are slow to adjust down even though gasoline and oil prices have decreased. This causes frustration for construction businesses and people when building houses and works.
Recently, the Ha Tinh Department of Construction also issued a document directing to strengthen the management of material prices in the area.
Representatives of the Construction Management Department of Ha Tinh Department of Construction said that in the near future, the unit will strengthen market forecasting to advise on timely price management.
The Department of Construction will also coordinate with functional forces, departments, branches, and related localities to inspect the listing of prices, selling construction materials at listed prices, and resolutely strictly handle acts of speculation, hoarding, and unreasonable price increases.
