The signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between Vietjet and Petrolimex Aviation took place today in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam Uong Viet Dung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrolimex Pham Van Thanh, General Director of Petrolimex Aviation Nguyen Van Hoc, General Director of Vietjet Dinh Viet Phuong, Permanent Deputy General Director of Vietjet To Viet Thang, Deputy General Director, CFO of Vietjet Ho Ngoc Yen Phuong and partners and guests.

For the first time in Vietnam, Petrolimex Aviation has combined and provided the first full 1,200 m3 of SAF for Vietjet flights, marking an important milestone in the production and use of sustainable aviation fuel in Vietnam. Petrolimex Aviation also transfers Sustainability Proof ( PoS) according to ISCC EU standards, committed to ensuring that this fuel source meets strict international standards on sustainability and CO2 emission reduction.
Director of the Civil Aviation Authority Uong Viet Dung said: "The launch of SAF products is not only meaningful in commercial terms but also has long-term strategic significance, creating a premise for building a sustainable domestic SAF supply chain; meeting the requirements of the international market; encouraging cooperation between airlines, fuel suppliers, management agencies and financial institutions to expand the scale of SAF use in Vietnam".

Speaking at the event, Member of the Government Party Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrolimex Pham Van Thanh said: Petrolimex proactively invests, researchs, and masters SAF blending technology at Nha Be Petroleum General warehouse, and is also the first unit in Vietnam to import SBC - hydrocarbons synthesized from bio-based materials/recycled for SAF production. This success demonstrates the Group's strong commitment to the green transformation journey, accompanying the Government, airlines and the whole society towards sustainable development".
Mr. To Viet Thang - Permanent Deputy General Director of Vietjet said: "Today's agreement between Vietjet and Petrolimex Aviation demonstrates the commitment of the two enterprises and the aviation industry towards green and sustainable development goals. With a total of 576 modern aircraft ordered, Vietjet's green flight fleet using SAF will contribute to significantly reducing emissions, protecting the environment, pioneering the use of clean fuel, contributing to realizing the aspiration for development and rising in the era of global integration of the country".
Previously, on October 17, 2024, Vietjet coordinated with Petrolimex Aviation to conduct the first two flights inspected for SAF in Vietnam. Produced from renewable materials and of sustainable origin such as used cooking oil, agricultural byproducts, wood blocks, urban waste, etc., SAF sustainable aviation fuel can help reduce 80% of carbon emissions compared to traditional fuels, meet international aviation standards, and use safely in commercial exploitation activities.
