On December 28, Mr. Le Nhu Nhat - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Kon Tum province said that the province has proposed and coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to soon put the Tan Tan Nhat wind power project in Dak Glei and Ngoc Hoi districts into operation.
Putting the project into operation early will avoid wasting resources for investors, as well as contribute tax revenue to the local budget.
Tan Tan Nhat Wind Power Project is invested by Tan Tan Nhat Joint Stock Company, with a capacity of 50MW, land area of 24.55ha, with a total investment capital of 1,890,200 million VND.
The project was approved in principle for investment by the Provincial People's Committee in September 2020 and completed the installation of 18/18 wind turbines, 63/63 power poles and nearly 20km of transmission lines since December 2021.
However, over the past 4 years, the trillion-VND wind power project has still not been able to be turned around and put into commercial operation, generating electricity to the grid. Although in October 2023, the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) organized an inspection and acceptance of the project.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Kon Tum province, the project still has many problems with legal procedures, waiting for approval of additional plans to implement the Power Plan VIII (phase 2). When there is a decision to extend the investment policy, the enterprise can carry out procedures to change the purpose of land use and land lease procedures.
After completing the land lease step, the investor will submit a report on the completion of the construction project to the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) for inspection and notification of acceptance results.
The next step, when obtaining the electricity operation license issued by the Electricity Regulatory Authority (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Tan Tan Nhat Joint Stock Company will be qualified to work with Vietnam Electricity Group to negotiate and sign a power purchase contract.
Kon Tum is a province with potential for renewable energy with 82 locations planned for hydropower projects. Kon Tum also has the potential for more than 4,800 MW of wind power, of which 153.5 MW of wind power projects have been approved for investment, and more than 4,661 MW of potential projects are waiting to be evaluated and researched for exploitation.
