The Tax Directorate has deployed solutions to improve the efficiency of tax management with e-commerce activities and business on digital platforms.

Tax management of e-commerce activities is always a key task to contribute to creating a fair business environment and preventing loss of state budget revenue.

In recent times, the Tax Directorate has regularly directed the Tax Departments to synchronously deploy groups of solutions to improve the effectiveness of tax management with e-commerce activities.

In case of detecting signs of tax law violations, a list will be made, and local departments and branches will coordinate to conduct inspections in the area to handle them according to tax laws and specialized laws, or the case will be transferred to the police if it is determined that this is an act of tax evasion.

Up to now, tax management work for e-commerce business activities at provincial and municipal Tax Departments has achieved remarkable results.

The Tax Directorate's viewpoint is always to expect taxpayers to comply with the law, voluntarily declare and pay taxes fully. For any intentional violations, the tax authority will coordinate with relevant agencies to handle them in accordance with the provisions of the law.

At the Hanoi Tax Department, this agency has carried out propaganda in many forms and coordinated with functional agencies such as: People's Committees at all levels, police agencies, press agencies to convey information to individuals, business households, and enterprises operating e-commerce to grasp, proactively register, declare, and pay taxes in accordance with the law, and at the same time support taxpayers to carry out procedures for registration, declaration, and electronic tax payment.

As a result, by August 2024, the Hanoi Tax Department had built a tax management directory for e-commerce business activities including more than 75,000 organizations and individuals, including more than 37,000 business households and more than 9,000 individuals.

On that basis, the Tax Department has implemented tax management and achieved revenue in the field of e-commerce from business households and individuals of over 1,000 billion VND, an increase of 265% over the same period in 2023.
