The Minister of Finance has just decided to issue national reserve goods to support the two provinces of Cao Bang and Lang Son to serve the work of natural disaster prevention, control and search and rescue. The total amount of goods exported includes 2,600 tons of rice and many specialized supplies and equipment.
According to the decision, the State Reserve will provide Cao Bang province with 600 tons of rice and many equipment for rescue and relief, including 20 sets of light-weight survival tarpaulins of 24.5m2; 400 life jackets; 300 life buoys; 50 light-weight life rafts; 4 generators (including 2 sets of 30KVA and 2 sets of 50KVA); 3 sets of drilling and cutting equipment; 6 sets of fire water pumps and 6 sets of rescue wire protection equipment.
Lang Son province has been provided with 2,000 tons of rice from national reserves to support people affected by natural disasters and prolonged floods in the past. Localities are fully responsible for receiving, distributing and distributing goods to the right subjects and for the right purposes, ensuring effective use, publicity, transparency and implementation of reporting regimes according to regulations.
From July 22 to now, Vietnam has had to cope with 9 storms, of which 5 (number 3, 5, 9, 10 and 11) directly affected the mainland. In particular, storms No. 10 and No. 11 caused serious flooding in many northern provinces, and were considered the most severely damaged natural disasters in many years.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, natural disasters since the beginning of the year have left 238 people dead and missing, 367 injured; more than 258,000 houses damaged, roofs blown off; 555,000 hectares of rice, crops and crops were flooded and damaged. The total estimated economic damage is more than VND 33,500 billion. The floods caused by storm No. 11 alone have left 15 people dead and missing, 7 injured, and more than 16,900 houses flooded mainly concentrated in Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son and Hanoi.
In that situation, on October 12, the Prime Minister signed a decision to provide emergency support of VND400 billion from the central budget reserve in 2025 to the provinces of Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Lang Son and Bac Ninh to overcome the consequences of floods (2nd time). Of which, Thai Nguyen is supported with 250 billion VND, Cao Bang, Lang Son and Bac Ninh provinces each with 50 billion VND.
Previously, the Government decided to provide emergency support of 140 billion VND to the above 4 localities for relief and initial overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. On October 2, the Prime Minister also decided to allocate VND 2,524 billion from the budget reserve to 15 localities to support people's lives, repair dykes, irrigation reservoirs and arrange residents in areas severely affected by storm No. 10 and other natural disasters from the beginning of 2025.
