This product will be connected for consumption during the Vietnam Agricultural Products Week 2025, taking place over two days, October 24-25 in Hanoi, marking the locality's efforts in promoting the potential of seafood in the Northern mountainous region.
The highlight of Vietnam Agricultural Week 2025 is the session to connect and consume sturgeon - a familiar product in the meals of many Vietnamese families but introduced in a new way, associated with practical experience activities.
At the event, delegates and visitors will be able to directly admire, participate in bidding and have the opportunity to own a 50kg Siberi sturgeon, currently the largest sturgeon among fish farms in Lai Chau in particular and Vietnam in general.
This "record" fish belongs to Duong Yen Cooperative (Lai Chau), a unit with more than 12 years of experience in raising cold-water fish, each year supplying over 20 tons of high-quality sturgeon to the market.
The cooperative representative said that Siberi sturgeon only grows well in cold water environments, where the temperature is maintained at a stable level of 18-22°C, ideal conditions for firm, sweet and characteristic fish meat.
Normally, a sturgeon needs to be cared for for nearly two years to reach an average weight of 2-3kg. Therefore, to have a "giant" sturgeon weighing up to 50kg, Duong Yen Cooperative has meticulously nurtured it for 15 years, considering it a "treasure" of Lai Chau cold water. The appearance of this special-class fish promises to become a unique highlight, at Vietnam Agricultural Products Week 2025.
Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ha - Deputy Director of Duong Yen Cooperative said that all proceeds from selling Siberi sturgeon at the Vietnam Agricultural Products Exhibition Week 2025 will be used by the unit to maintain, raise, and propagate Beluga sturgeon - a rare fish variety with a large weight and high nutritional value. In particular, Beluga stems cost millions of VND/tael.
According to the leader of the Domestic Market Management and Development Department, choosing sturgeon as the focus product of Vietnam Agricultural Products Week 2025 is not only because it is an essential, nutritious food, but also because the image of sturgeon has long been considered a symbol of prosperity, endurance and prosperity.
