Recently, Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee awarded investment approval decisions and investment certificates to large enterprises in the field of renewable energy.
Vestas Development A/S Group (Denmark) was awarded investment decisions for two projects: Dien Bien Dong Wind Power Plant (phase 1) and Muong Ang Wind Power Plant. These two projects have a total designed capacity of 234 MW, with a total investment capital of more than 9,634 billion VND.
Vietnamese joint venture TPDB Wind Power Investment Pte and Beijing Weineng Investment also chose Dien Bien to pour 4,375 billion VND into the Envision Nam Po Wind Power Plant project (capacity 125 MW).
The presence of "big players" not only solves the capital problem, but also carries the expectation of technology transfer, improving management capacity and operating clean power grids.
Domestic investors are also showing interest as VinEnergo Energy Joint Stock Company (Vingroup) will also invest in the Dien Bien 1 Solar Power Plant project with a capacity of 300 MW, total capital of over 5,370 billion VND. This is one of the large-scale solar power projects, promising to make a significant contribution to the province's clean energy supply.

Projects such as solar power on Pa Khoang lake integrating storage batteries, or the project on Trung Thu hydropower lake (capacity 72 MW, capital of more than 1,454 billion VND) will also take advantage of water surface area, minimizing impact on cultivated land funds.
In Lai Chau province, currently 4 concentrated solar power projects with a total capacity of 720 MW are completing legal conditions for construction.
According to the adjusted Power Plan VIII, the province is allocated over 3,570 MW of power source capacity, of which many key projects have been and are being actively implemented.
At the same time, the province has proactively researched and updated into the plan 87 power source projects with a total capacity of 15,856 MW, including 12,051 MW of solar power, 3,150 MW of rechargeable hydropower, 555 MW of wind power and 100 MW of storage batteries.
Recently, at a meeting to implement energy development projects in Lai Chau province, Mr. Le Minh Ngan - Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - proposed that the Provincial People's Committee direct departments, branches, and localities to focus on effectively exploiting renewable energy types to well implement Power Plan VIII, contributing to increasing revenue for the provincial budget. Focus on accelerating the progress of compensation, site clearance, land use purpose conversion, forest use, land allocation, land lease and related legal procedures.

Previously, on May 18, Son La Provincial People's Committee held the groundbreaking ceremony for the floating solar power project on the Son La hydropower reservoir with a capacity of 800 MW, with a total investment of about 17,000 billion VND. The project is implemented on an area of about 1,140 hectares of water surface and 60 hectares of land, in Chieng Lao and Muong La communes.
The main items include a floating buoy system integrating solar panels, power cables connected on the Son La hydropower reservoir, an operating management house, a 500 kV substation and about 10 km of 500 kV power lines connected.
When completed, the project is expected to supply about 1,250 GWh of electricity per year to the national power system.
