On May 18, Son La Provincial People's Committee held the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Buoy and Plastic Production Plant and the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the floating solar power project on the Son La Hydropower Lake.


The Buoy and Plastic Product Factory project is invested by Bac Phuong Son La Energy Joint Stock Company, built in Phieng Loi village, Chieng Lao commune. The project has a scale of about 3,845 m2, a capacity of 758,000 products/year, with a total investment of 317 billion VND.

The floating solar power project on the Son La hydropower lake with a capacity of 800 MW, with a total investment of about 17,000 billion VND, is implemented on an area of about 1,140 hectares of water surface and 60 hectares of land, in Chieng Lao and Muong La communes.
The main items include a floating buoy system integrating solar panels, power cables connected on the Son La hydropower reservoir, an operating management house, a 500 kV substation and about 10 km of 500 kV power lines connected.
When completed, the project is expected to supply about 1,250 GWh of electricity per year to the national power system.

These are projects of great significance in the development of industry, renewable energy and local socio-economy, and also an activity to celebrate the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026).

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet - Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the groundbreaking and groundbreaking of the two projects is of great significance in the development of industry, renewable energy and effective exploitation of the potential of Son La hydropower reservoir.

The two projects are expected to create motivation to attract investment, promote economic growth, create jobs and increase revenue for the locality. When put into operation, the projects are expected to create jobs for more than 2,000 workers, contributing about 400 - 500 billion VND to the local budget each year.
