Import and export activities continuously reach "peaks"

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tai - Deputy Director of Lang Son Provincial Customs Department - said that in 2024, import and export activities through Lang Son province reached a record level.
Mr. Tai said that it is estimated that by December 31, 2024, the total import-export turnover through Lang Son province of all types of import-export will reach approximately 70 billion USD, an increase of 30% over the same period in 2023. Of which, the import-export turnover opened at the Lang Son Provincial Customs Department will reach 6.5 billion USD, an increase of 10% over the same period last year.
"In 2024, Lang Son Provincial Customs Department was assigned a target of collecting VND 5,000 billion from the state budget. By the end of December 10, 2024, the Department had collected VND 7,100 billion, reaching 142% of the assigned target and increasing by 148.4% over the same period in 2023. It is estimated that by the end of 2024, the revenue could reach VND 7,400 billion" - the leader of Lang Son Provincial Customs Department excitedly shared.
Since the beginning of the year, the department has detected and arrested 1,591 violations, with an estimated value of infringing goods of VND35.5 billion, and administratively sanctioned 1,566 cases, with a fine of VND7 billion paid to the state budget. Along with that, 3 serious cases were transferred to the police.
In Lao Cai, according to information from the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, the total value of import and export goods through border gates in the province in the first 10 months of 2024 reached 2.53 billion USD, an increase of 88% over the same period in 2023.
The leader of the Lao Cai Provincial Economic Zone Management Board said: "Export turnover reached 1.67 billion USD, an increase of 122% over the same period in 2023 and import turnover reached 651.65 million USD, an increase of 59% over the same period in 2023. Notably, at the International Road Border Gate, the total value of import and export goods in the first 10 months of the year reached 2.2 billion USD, an increase of 112.3% over the same period in 2023".
"Tax and fee collection by the Customs sector reached VND 1,011.65 billion, an increase of 36.2% over the same period in 2023" - said a representative of the unit.
Also from the beginning of the year until now, the total import-export turnover through Ta Lung Border Gate Customs Branch (Cao Bang) reached more than 305 million USD, reaching 111% of the assigned plan; budget revenue reached over 767.7 billion VND...
Promoting the implementation of digital border gates and smart border gates
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tai said that regarding the implementation of the Smart Border Gate project, Lang Son Provincial Customs Department has sent civil servants to join the working group of the General Department of Customs, participate in the Steering Committee and support team of Lang Son province to implement the project.
For assigned tasks, the Department has reviewed, researched and issued detailed plans with clear roadmaps, assigned specific tasks to each focal point and individual for implementation, in which the most important content is to build customs management procedures for smart border gates.
For Lao Cai province, units are also implementing and completing the connection, testing and operation of the entire digital border gate platform at Kim Thanh border gate from November 1, 2024.
Along with that, continue to deploy contents and work related to the construction of the Pilot Project to build smart border gates at Kim Thanh border gate and Ban Vuoc commune, Bat Xat district.
