USD price today decreased slightly, gold price today increased again
The US Dollar Index (DXY) measuring the fluctuations of the greenback against 6 major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF) is currently at 92.537.
USD prices fell to near a weekly low. This is the first time in 7 consecutive weeks that the USD price has decreased sharply. The decline in US consumer confidence has led investors to believe that the possibility of a tightening monetary policy by the US Federal Reserve is unlikely to happen soon.
The US Dollar Index, which tracks the greenback against other currencies, has fallen 0.02%.
The USD/JPY pair increased by 0.02% to 110.4.
The AUD/USD pair increased by 0.1% after the Reserve Bank of Australia released the minutes of a recent meeting.
USD/CNY exchange rate increased by 0.01%. China's industrial production rose 6.4% lower than expected for the same period last year in July, while retail sales also disappointed, rising 8.5% year-on-year in the same month.
Investors who have looked at US economic data from last week said consumer sentiment fell to its lowest level since 2011. Consumer expectations in August were 65.2, while consumer sentiment was 70.2.
