On long trips in the summer, air conditioning is a lifebuoy to help drivers and passengers avoid the hot. However, if not used properly, air conditioners can become a "guest" causing people in the car to experience dry skin, headaches, and fatigue, especially when traveling for a long time.
Do not let the temperature get too low
One of the common causes of headaches and dry skin is that the temperature in the vehicle is too low compared to the outside environment. According to Dr. Lisa Grant - an environmental health expert at the University of Toronto ( Canada), sudden temperature differences can cause blood vessel constriction, affecting blood circulation and leading to headaches.
You should maintain a regulating temperature of 24 - 26 degrees Celsius, combined with moderate fan mode for smooth and natural airflow, Ms. Grant recommends.
Avoid wind blowing directly on people
Letting cold air blow directly into the face or neck for a long time can cause muscle strain, dry nose, dry eyes, and even a ringing headache. It is best to adjust the wind direction to the ceiling or to both sides, avoid blowing directly on the person.
Add moisture to a closed space
The air in the vehicle when turned on the air conditioner is often very dry, easily dehydrating through the skin and mucous membranes. To reduce the feeling of dryness, you can place a damp cloth or a small glass of water in the car to keep the air moist. If traveling long distances, don't forget to bring mineral spray to hydrate your face periodically.
Drink enough water, a simple but easily overlooked thing
In a cool air conditioner, the body tends not to feel thirsty. However, the lack of water is still happening silently. Remember to drink water every 30-45 minutes when traveling long distance. Maintaining body moisture will help reduce dry skin and support the nervous system to function stably, Ms. Grant instructed.
Create a reasonable rest period on a long journey
Do not sit still in air conditioners for long periods of time. After about 2 - 3 hours, open the car door, breathe natural air to relax the body and regulate body temperature.
Note
Using a car air conditioner in the summer is necessary, but if you do not pay attention to the temperature, direction of the wind or humidity, it is easy to make the body tired on a long journey. Applying the expert's instructions correctly, you will have a comfortable, safe and healthy trip throughout the hot summer.
