Always promote the role of representing, caring for, and protecting workers
At the meeting with leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor through the periods organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2025), Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong said that one of the outstanding activities in the first 6 months of 2025 is that trade unions at all levels focus on taking care of Tet for union members and workers with many new features, achieving positive results, continuing to have a development step in both quantity and quality.
11.35 million union members, workers and their relatives have benefited from care activities organized by the Union, an increase of 9.25% compared to 2024, with a total budget of over VND 7,812 billion, an increase of 9% compared to 2024.
Trade unions at all levels have organized nearly 21,000 "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan Ung Deng" programs, attracting nearly 6.1 million union members and workers to participate, with more than 2.3 million union members and workers given gifts at the program with a total amount of nearly 1,488 billion VND.
The number of support for train, car, plane tickets, and organizing trips to and from union members and workers in 2025 will increase by nearly 12% compared to 2024. The "2025 Trade Union Tet Market" program continues to demonstrate innovation and flexibility in the organization of activities to care for union members and workers.
In particular, Workers' Month 2025 is held with the theme "Vietnamese Workers Pioneering to enter a new era" with many practical activities for union members and workers.
The program "Thank you to workers" and caring for the lives of union members and workers is a deep humanitarian mark of the Trade Union organization in Workers' Month 2025.
With nearly 16,000 activities in more than 4,800 units, the program has created a two-way connection between employers and employees, contributing to improving the quality of labor relations and arousing the spirit of creativity and solidarity among the working group.
The care work has been systematically implemented on a large scale, with more than 1.4 million union members supported with a total budget of over 265 billion VND; 1,010 Union Shelters were built and repaired; millions of union members enjoyed health benefits, study, and care for their young children; over 10 million people participated in vibrant and practical cultural and sports activities...
These results show that the Trade Union organization is gradually shifting from "individual care" to "building sustainable welfare". Thereby, affirming the role of the Trade Union in building a humane, fair and developing working environment; building a modern, strong and worthy working class in the new era.
Over nearly a century, the Vietnam Trade Union has constantly innovated and developed, becoming a solid support for tens of millions of union members and workers. The tradition of resilience, solidarity and creativity is the foundation for the Vietnam Trade Union to confidently enter a new stage of development.






Promoting the role of trade unions in the "common house" of the Vietnam Fatherland Front
From July 1, 2025, the Vietnam Trade Union officially became a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. With its new position, the Trade Union organization not only protects the rights of workers but also continues to make an important contribution to building the country.
To carry out the mission of being the only representative of workers in the new era and a member directly under the Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Trade Union will innovate the organization and methods of operation to build a strong and comprehensive Vietnam Trade Union, truly becoming a solid support and reliable support for union members and workers.
Improve the capacity to represent, protect, promote the central role of trade unions in collective bargaining and social dialogue, be proactive, actively and effectively participate in building policies on labor, employment, wages, and social insurance, ensure that workers' opinions are listened to, studied and accepted, ensuring that the proposed policies after being legalized will be suitable and meet practical requirements.
Regarding this content, the Trade Unions at all levels are making efforts to implement it and bringing good results. For example, in the first 6 months of the year, program No. 05/TTr-BCH dated September 6, 2024 of the Executive Committee of the General Confederation of Labor on "Improving the effectiveness of dialogue and collective bargaining in the period of 2023 - 2028" was implemented by trade unions at all levels, achieving important results.
There were 1,429 newly signed Collective Labor Agreements, reaching 40% of the annual target, raising the rate of signed collective labor agreements to 75%; 3,125 Collective Labor Agreements were amended and supplemented.
The quality of collective labor agreements continues to be improved, focusing on negotiating and including in the signing of beneficial contents, higher than the provisions of law for employees, especially the content of wages, bonuses, bonuses according to the ratio of beneficial value of initiatives, technical improvements, useful topics, solutions, working hours, rest hours, shift meals, and occupational safety and hygiene.
1,298 grassroots trade unions in enterprises have proposed and negotiated with employers to adjust the value of shift meals to increase, reaching 45.3% of the annual target. In addition, there have been over 33,753 periodic dialogues, 7,269 dialogues upon request and 3,871 dialogues when there are incidents held...
In particular, to carry out its mission in the new era, the Trade Union continues to do a good job of comprehensively caring for the material and spiritual lives of union members and workers, taking benefits as one of the important motivations for gathering, attracting workers to the Trade Union organization and strengthening the close relationship between union members and the organization...
The revised Constitution of 2025 has given the Vietnam Trade Union a new historical mission, more fully and deeply affirming the special role and position of the Trade Union organization as "the only representative of workers at the national level in labor relations and international relations with trade unions. Therefore, more than ever, the Vietnam Trade Union needs to continue and constantly innovate its organization and methods of operation.
