Lao Dong Newspaper is one of the earliest newspapers in the history of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism (1929). Comrade Nguyen Duc Canh laid the foundation and was also the first Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Newspaper.
Established in 1929, Lao Dong has accompanied the country on a very long journey, from the long revolutionary march with 2 great national defense wars to when the country restored peace, carried out renovation and economic development.
I believe that Lao Dong Newspaper has a very special historical journey, becoming a newspaper that speaks out the voice of the working people, and also a friend of the people of the whole country”.
He also shared: "I started with the song "We were born from the early days of the Revolution", to say how Lao Dong pioneered in the Revolutionary movement in 1929 - 1930, after the revolution, the newspaper "went up with the country", grew stronger with the country...

Right from the first issue published publicly on October 18, 1945, the newspaper continued to reiterate its mission with the article Self-introduction: "... Many economic, political, and social issues must be raised; and of course, excessive or regressive policies will sprout among workers. Therefore, workers are forced to have a mouthpiece to clearly outline their tasks and necessities at this time, to help themselves move forward on the path of striving.

Right under the banner of the Lao Dong print newspaper published every day, there is a neat line of words: "The number one newspaper protects the rights of workers".
That number 1 position is not self-proclaimed but also an admission, both a mission, a goal and also the ideal of the newspaper that has 97 years of history and is aiming for 100 years of maturity with the country.
For nearly 100 years, Lao Dong Newspaper has always held the number one position in the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press in protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers; is a reliable address for workers and laborers to send their thoughts, feelings, and aspirations.
The country is entering a new stage of development with the event of the 14th National Congress of the Party just taking place and being very successful. The Congress document clearly states one of the strategic orientations: "Promoting strong patriotism, aspiration for development, spirit of solidarity, will of self-reliance, confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride; promoting the strength of culture and people into internal resources, development motivation. Completing synchronously the rapid and sustainable development institution; removing bottlenecks and obstacles; unlocking and liberating production capacity and all resources. Pioneering in propagating the guidelines and policies of the Party and State; patriotic emulation movements, action programs of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Trade Union organization.
Pioneering in protecting workers' rights. In 2025, the newspaper published tens of thousands of news articles about Trade Unions, workers and laborers. Among them, 19 series of articles successfully protected the rights of hundreds of workers, teachers and laborers in provinces and cities, bringing in billions of VND in value.
Pioneering in digital transformation. At the beginning of 2026, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that 7 press agencies maintained for 3 consecutive years (2023 - 2025) achieving excellent rankings in terms of digital transformation maturity, including Lao Dong Newspaper, ranked fourth. Digital transformation must go hand in hand with "content transformation" and "organization transformation". Technology and artificial intelligence are important tools, but the ultimate goal is to create high-quality journalistic products, with public opinion-leading value, beneficial to workers and trade union organizations; and at the same time, especially value information security and safety.
