Music is a beautiful meeting between art and the times
Released right on the occasion of the 14th Party Congress, the MV "Country Today" composed by musician Nguyen Thanh Trung, performed by People's Artist Quoc Hung and singer Thu Hang, is considered one of the typical works of contemporary political music. With a length of more than 8 minutes, the work is built according to a school structure of 6 chapters, recreating the journey of formation, struggle and development of the Vietnamese nation.
NSND Quoc Hung shared that he sees "Today's Country" as a "very beautiful meeting between music and the times", where the voice is placed in the great context of the nation from losses and sacrifices to the period of renovation and rise.
Quoc Hung revealed that he has produced 3 albums for musician Nguyen Thanh Trung. When Trung suggested writing a school song about the country on the occasion of the 14th Congress, he supported and contributed ideas to expand the structure, add a female duet voice, choir, and coordinate with musician Duc Thuy to make each chapter have its own breath.
According to musician Nguyen Thanh Trung, what he is most satisfied with when writing this work is depicting "Vietnamese national character", formed from rice civilization, from community spirit and belief in long-term accumulated values.
Not only stopping at one MV, "Today's Country" also reflects the general trend of music life: Artists are proactively approaching major topics about the Party and the Fatherland with new artistic thinking, considering this a serious creative space, not a "safe zone" or old stereotypes.
Young artists enter the game: From big stages to spillover effects
Besides veteran artists, the wave of young artists composing and performing songs about the Party and the country is becoming increasingly clear. Typical is singer Anh Tu with the song "Thua Dang", which he composed and performed for the first time in the political program "Forever Belief in the Party" at the Ho Guom Theater (Hanoi).
In another approach, 9x female artist Hoang Hong Ngoc impressed with the song "Letter of the Party signaling millions of hearts". The youthful melody, fast tempo, and modern arrangement helped the song spread strongly on social media platforms, creating a fever with the youth community to celebrate the 14th Congress.
Hoang Hong Ngoc said that the idea of the song originated from the desire to write about the Party in the language of young people: Exciting, direct, energetic.
Not stopping there, Hong Ngoc continued to release the song "Party's Will, People's Hearts", combined with Tran Bich Ngoc (Runner-up of Sao Mai 2015), with a simple storytelling about the atmosphere of preparing for the Congress in a small neighborhood.
Belief, aspiration and role of culture and art
In 2025 and early 2026, a series of major art programs to celebrate the 14th Party Congress are organized nationwide: From symphony, singing and dancing to spoken drama, circus, puppetry. Professional art units all share a common goal: to spread patriotism, consolidate people's trust in the Party's leadership, and at the same time inspire the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.
Notably, many artists who were originally successful in the market music genre such as Soobin Hoang Son, Ha Anh Tuan, Tung Duong... also actively participated in performing red music and revolutionary music. Soobin singing "National Anthem" in front of thousands of spectators on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, or Ha Anh Tuan creating emotion with the song "My house has a flag hung", shows the shift in the creative mindset of young artists: from pure entertainment to social responsibility.
When songs about the Party and the Fatherland are expressed in the spirit of Vietnamese people in peacetime, gentle and proud, they easily touch the public's emotions.
Music, at this time, is not only a means of entertainment but has become a tool to connect historical memories with current life.
It can be said that the increasing number of young artists joining in with the theme of the Party is not a trend but reflects the self-needs of the new generation: To affirm their identity, to show responsibility to the community and to contribute positively to the country's development process. When the "Party's will" blends with the "people's hearts", music becomes a sustainable bridge, bringing the aspiration of Vietnam to spread from the big stage to every young person's heart.
