Entering the museum’s interior, visitors will admire the majestic statue of President Ho Chi Minh behind which are four golden words “Opening the way to victory”. The Engineering Corps was honored to receive from Uncle Ho a flag embroidered with four golden words “Opening the way to victory”, and that is also the glorious tradition of the Engineering Corps.
Visitors will be able to see the exhibition of bombs, mines and explosives from the wars in Vietnam, with cluster bombs, cluster bombs, mines, anti-vehicle and anti-infantry mines... and the largest luminescent bomb in the Indochina battlefield, weighing about 6 tons...
More than 3,000 artifacts and images associated with the birth and outstanding feats, depicting the hardships, sacrifices and battles of the engineering corps through historical periods. There are valuable documents such as the notebook recording Uncle Ho's handwriting when visiting the Engineering Engineering Exhibition at Ly Nam De in 1959... Then there are elaborate models and dioramas depicting the feats of the engineering corps.
The Museum of Engineers, established on March 25, 1986, is under the Political Department of the Engineer Corps. The museum has the task of researching, collecting, inventorying, preserving, displaying and promoting, introducing artifacts of historical, cultural and scientific value to reflect the process of building, fighting and maturing of the Engineer Corps, and from there to educate the next generation about the great contributions of engineer soldiers in the cause of fighting for national independence, liberating the country and building and defending the Fatherland.
The Engineer Corps has successfully completed all assigned tasks in the two resistance wars, especially in the resistance war against the US to save the country, building a strategic traffic system connecting the great rear in the North with the great front line in the South, with a total length of nearly 20,000km, contributing significantly to the great victory of the nation.
Entering the period of national construction and protection, the Corps has had outstanding achievements such as building defense works, building border patrol roads, Truong Son Dong road, building DKI platform; clearing bombs, mines, explosives; participating in search and rescue exercises, serving the expanded ASEAN Defense Ministers' Conference; hosting and participating in the ASEAN region's emergency disaster response exercise in 2013...
The Corps and engineering units of the entire army have been awarded many noble prizes by the State and the Ministry of National Defense; Among them, 74 officers, soldiers and 113 units were honored as “Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces”. And on December 13, 2013, the Corps was honored to be awarded the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” by the State for the second time.
