Recalling the 2025 volleyball season, main hitter Nguyen Ngoc Thuan of Bien Phong MB Men's Team said: "That was a memorable year for me. My team and I won the national championship. When participating in the tournament, we only focused on doing our best professional tasks assigned.
But after participating in the tournament, each match in each participating tournament is a challenge that my teammates and I must focus on solving. It is fortunate that we won the final victory at the tournament. Most importantly, my teammates and I have won championships in the participating tournaments including Hoa Lu Cup 2025, Hung Vuong Cup 2025 and National Championship 2025”.
At the end of the 2025 National Championship, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan received the title of Best Attacking Athlete. That was the first individual title of this hitter through his participations in the National Volleyball Championship. Even though, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan is a leading athlete who brought good results to the MB Border Guard Team through his years of dedication.
Exactly one year ago, the Bien Phong MB military-shirted volleyball team participated in the 2025 National Championship as the defending champion (they were champions in 2024). Experts are not in a hurry to assess whether the military-shirted team can maintain the number 1 position in the following year. Because, not many men's volleyball teams in Vietnam have defended the national championship title for two consecutive seasons.
However, Ngoc Thuan shared that he and his teammates have faith in their form, so they always achieve professional excitement when taking the field. Closing 2025, Ngoc Thuan has affirmed his bravery in domestic arenas to continue to win the championship with the managing unit.
The hitter shared after the 2025 final: "For me, the title of Excellent Attacking Athlete of the 2025 National Championship is a beautiful memory. I am honored to receive that title. Most importantly, my expertise has contributed to the overall result of the team to bring home a valuable national championship title.
Still regretting a higher result at SEA Games 33
Looking at the professional journey, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan is being assessed by volleyball coaches in Vietnam as the most outstanding male athlete in the main attacking position in this period. The hitter was basically trained from the youth line of Bien Phong MB men's volleyball, then participated in the main squad to compete in the National Championship. From his maturity, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan was given the opportunity to participate in the Vietnam Men's Volleyball Team.
When preparing for SEA Games 31 in 2022 in Vietnam, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan was focused on the Vietnam Men's Volleyball Team. At that time, young main attacker Nguyen Ngoc Thuan entered the age of 23. However, the opportunity to participate in SEA Games 31 did not come to this hitter when the coaching staff decided to part ways with Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and did not include him in the shortlist of 14 official players.
A year later, head coach Tran Dinh Tien gave his student the opportunity to play officially at the 32nd SEA Games, held in Cambodia in 2023. At the end of the first Southeast Asian Games in his career mentioned above, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan won a bronze medal.
Last year, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan continued to participate in SEA Games 33 in Thailand. At the time of reaching his prime, the hitter wanted to make a mark at SEA Games 33. Unfortunately, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team stopped at 4th place. Remember in Thailand at that time, main hitter Nguyen Ngoc Thuan once expressed to the media that: "We did not get the expected results. This is really regrettable".
For each Vietnamese men's volleyball player, each SEA Games is a time they have the opportunity to show their form against opponents in the region. “It is no exaggeration to say that Ngoc Thuan is one of the leading main attacking players with good expertise in Southeast Asia. If this player wins the highest title at the SEA Games level, Ngoc Thuan's playing career will certainly be very noteworthy,” the representative of the Professional Board of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation shared.
However, from the perspective of a teacher and someone who directly coaches Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, coach Tran Dinh Tien believes that this is a player with the qualities to achieve success in competition. However, volleyball is a team sport and requires the development of the bravery of the pillar position at the right time. Nguyen Ngoc Thuan can do it.
We always evaluate players from many angles, from expertise to fighting spirit. Above all, if players maintain their spirit, they will best promote the tactical moves set out by the coaching staff. Nguyen Ngoc Thuan is capable of meeting that requirement" - Mr. Tran Dinh Tien shared with the press.
2026 season with many expectations
Nguyen Ngoc Thuan has a height of 1m94. At the same time, the hitter has the ability to launch attacks. Therefore, this main hitter is one of the sharp "weapons" of the Bien Phong MB Men's Volleyball Team in national tournaments. This year, the Bien Phong MB Team continues to participate in the 2026 National Club Championship (starting from April 6) as the defending champion.
As soon as he returned to professional training after the Tet holiday, main attacker Nguyen Ngoc Thuan cautiously said that the 2026 season will be more difficult than previous years due to the dense and harsh competition program. "I set a goal to improve myself this season. The top requirement is still to try to maintain achievements with the managing team. This year, we still have the task of competing in the X-2026 National Sports Games. Therefore, the task follows the task, so I personally must have the best physical preparation" - player Ngoc Thuan shared.
Friends and colleagues always appreciate Nguyen Ngoc Thuan's training style and professional care. Therefore, this player always completes the professional training plan set out by the coaching staff.
When asked by the press what helped him achieve powerful spikes and score accurately, Ngoc Thuan expressed that: "I think each player must have hard work to improve their level. No player is born knowing how to play football, but if you know how to train, learn and accumulate expertise through each tournament, your ability and form will definitely change every day.
Starting the 2026 season, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and Bien Phong MB Men's Team won the Hoa Lu Cup 2026 championship. On the court in Ninh Binh, this main attacker said that he is still trying to prepare professionally to aim for the 1st round of the 2026 National Club Championship. Because for Ngoc Thuan, the goal of winning good results in the national league is still the top priority.
I comply with the professional requirements of the coaching staff. We will be determined to play really well at the 2026 National Club Championship. I feel lucky that my family cheers for me in the tournaments. Therefore, my spirit is very confident every time I enter the competition," the male striker expressed.
