Volleyball coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa: Valuable replacement

When this article was published, coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa had departed for Thailand to participate in the second leg of the SEA V.Cup 2026 tournament with the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. In this national mission, coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa took on the role of head coach. Before leaving for Thailand, coach Ngoc Hoa expressed her caution: "We have been assigned professional tasks and the team will strive to play at the highest level".

Looking back at the professional journey, coach Ngoc Hoa is a rather special case when she has taken on the role of important replacement 3 times.

Last year, coach Ngoc Hoa was unexpectedly assigned by the management level of the VTV Binh Dien Long An Women's Volleyball Team to be the head coach of the team from the second phase, replacing coach Thai Quang Lai of the managing unit. At the end of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship, coach Ngoc Hoa and the managing team won the championship. This year, coach Ngoc Hoa was also unexpectedly assigned the task of being the head coach of the Vietnam U18 Women's Volleyball Team to replace coach Le Thi Hien. Previously, coach Ngoc Hoa was focusing on performing her duties in the coaching staff of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team. However, coach Ngoc Hoa made efforts to take on the role of captain of the Vietnam U18 Women's Volleyball Team and together with the team of players won the runner-up title of the 2026 Southeast Asian Women's U18 Volleyball Championship and the 5th place at the 2026 Asian Women's U18 Volleyball Championship.

Now, coach Ngoc Hoa continues to be the head coach of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. Coach Ngoc Hoa replaces coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet to direct his students to compete in the second leg of the SEA V.Cup 2026 Tournament in Thailand.

Devoting herself to women's volleyball

In the history of Vietnamese women's volleyball expertise through many periods and generations of athletes, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa is one of the outstanding faces. When playing, coach Ngoc Hoa was specialized in the middle blocker position. In terms of expertise, coach Ngoc Hoa is one of the first female volleyball players in Vietnam to play abroad. She participated in the Thai National Championship and achieved many valuable results.

Remember in 2024, although she had switched to coaching the VTV Binh Dien Long An Youth Women's Volleyball Team, coach Ngoc Hoa returned to compete in the National Championship according to her assigned task. At that time, this coach maintained high form and was a pillar to win the National Volleyball Championship 2024 with her juniors. At the above tournament, coach Ngoc Hoa once confided to the press and media: "For me, volleyball is a sport that is ingrained in my blood and flesh, so I always try to dedicate all my abilities.

Coach Ngoc Hoa is originally from Long An (old), now Tay Ninh. When playing, middle blocker Ngoc Hoa was basically trained from the youth team of her managing team. With concentration and efforts in expertise, young player Ngoc Hoa was promoted to the first line of the VTV Binh Dien Long An Women's Volleyball Team to participate in the National Championship. Now, coach Ngoc Hoa is preparing to enter the age of 40. This coach himself has gone through many tournaments to accumulate experience in competition to supplement his current coaching work.

Assessing coach Ngoc Hoa, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once acknowledged that his assistant has good professional coaching ability as well as passion for the profession.

In the community living behind the volleyball court, coach Ngoc Hoa and coach Le Thai Binh became husband and wife. They were both players when they played for Tay Ninh sports volleyball (formerly Long An). The volleyball sports environment is a common point between the couple, and each person (coach Ngoc Hoa, Thai Binh) always understands the difficulties in the profession but they still focus on training and coaching more players for the country's volleyball.
