Pre-match information
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will meet Thailand in the final match of leg 2 of SEA V.Cup 2026. This is a difficult match as coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa's team has suffered two consecutive defeats against Indonesia and the Philippines.
In the opening match, Vietnam once led Indonesia 2-0 but let the opponent come back to win 3-2. After that, Thanh Thuy and her teammates continued to lose to the Philippines 1-3. These two results caused the Vietnamese team to lose an advantage in the ranking race, especially when the team once won the runner-up title in stage 1.
Two consecutive defeats also show problems in maintaining the game. Vietnam started well but could not maintain the quality of the match when the opponent adjusted their playing style, and also encountered difficulties in organizing and handling important moments.
Facing Thailand, professional requirements will be higher. The defending champion possesses a balanced force, experience and is aiming to defend the number 1 position. The Vietnamese women's team will have to improve step one, maintain attacking efficiency and limit periods of continuous points losses.
Although stage 2 did not go as expected, the match against Thailand is still an opportunity for the Vietnamese women's team to test their ability to adjust after two defeats. A positive result will help Thanh Thuy and her teammates close the stage with more positive signals, creating a foundation for the preparation process for the next tournaments in 2026.
