My father used to be a paint worker, a 7/7 apprentice, meaning "top of the roof, ceiling drawing" of a painter. A few years before retiring, he was admitted to the Party. My mother joked: "You are a great social worker, your salary cannot increase anymore, and if you are about to retire, if it is not your turn to join the Party, why join the Party? As many people strive to join the Party, the only goal is to have more fortune and progress".
I remember my father's answer: "I wanted to join the Party when I was young, but the factory rarely developed new party members, so I joined late. I joined the Party not because of salary increase or promotion, but for many reasons. First, I have worked all my life, I feel worthy. Second, joining the Party is considered a confirmation of my working capacity and moral status. And third, I want my children to consider me an example to strive for.
Now, after more than 20 years as a Party member, my father is still tirelessly doing the work of a Party cell member of the residential group Party cell. He still said: "Coming to the Party is not the end of the process of striving but the beginning of a next stage with a higher level of cultivation and training".

Developing party members among workers and laborers is one of the important orientations and goals of the Party. The Party Charter clearly states: The Party is a pioneer of the Vietnamese working class, a loyal delegate for the interests of the working class, the working people and the entire nation.
However, there were times when the development of the Party among workers slowed down with objective and subjective reasons. During a working trip to Ninh Binh, I was very reassured by a local union leader: In fact, a part of workers have a simple thought of going to work, getting paid, and there is no need to strive for politics. Some people think of Dang as fear of having to pay an additional party fee, or fear that the company will cause difficulties, so there is no motivation to strive for Dang.
On the other hand, most business owners share the same mentality of being afraid of establishing a Party organization in enterprises. Some foreign business owners do not even want to establish a Party organization within the unit. In addition, the leadership, direction and urging of Party member development work at some Party committees and organizations is not regular and lacks determination.
A few grassroots Party committees and organizations have not paid regular attention to training and creating sources of party members, leading to Party cells that have not created sources and not admitted new party members for many years. Propaganda and education in some places is still taken lightly, not creating motivation and motivation to strive properly for the Party of workers and laborers".
Resolution No. 21-NQ/TW, dated June 16, 2022, the 5th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee on strengthening and consolidating the building of grassroots Party organizations and improving the quality of Party members in the new period has contributed to promoting the development of grassroots Party members.
The Resolution emphasizes: The Party members are the decisive factor in the leadership capacity and fighting spirit of the grassroots Party organization. Create an environment for Party members to practice and strive, at the same time, each Party member must voluntarily study and practice personality, ethics, and style, constantly improve their political will, pioneering, and being exemplary, strictly implementing the Party's principles and oaths when joining the Party; strengthening close relationships with the people and being supervised by the people.
attach importance to the quality of developing Party members, pay attention to developing Party members among youth union members, trade unions, outstanding members, and outstanding masses, especially in disadvantaged areas, mountainous areas, border areas, islands, non-state economic regions, and ethnic minority areas. Regularly review, screen, and resolutely remove party members who are no longer eligible to leave the Party.
III.
In 2025, to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), the Trade Union organization will organize a national conference to honor outstanding workers who are party members for the first time. The event will take place on February 16 in Hanoi. 95 workers were honored not only as typical representatives of good, highly productive workers, contributing positively to the development of enterprises, but also representing pioneering party members, ready to take on difficult tasks, with technical innovation initiatives that bring high value and benefits.
The number 95 is very meaningful but only represents millions of Party members who are workers who are continuing to strive for the cause of the country and the nation.
Many examples are simple but aware of their roles. For example, Mr. Bui Van Thinh - a worker at the welding workshop of Hyundai Thanh Cong Vietnam Automobile Manufacturing Joint Stock Company (in Gian Khau Industrial Park, Ninh Binh) has had many initiatives and technical improvements, benefiting the company hundreds of millions of VND each year. He said sincerely: "It is an honor and pride to be in the ranks of the Party, I myself always believe in Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's ideology and the Party's reform guidelines, steadfast in the goal of national independence and socialism".
Or like Mr. Tran Trong Kim, Head of the Mechanical Team - Enterprise of Tien Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation (Nam Thai Binh Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited) has had initiatives that have benefited businesses and the state with billions of VND. He confided: I always try my best with the company, factory and professional team to carry out and complete all assigned tasks well.
Along with professional tasks, I always explore, learn, and research to find good and useful initiatives and solutions to apply in practice. Many times I have ideas, I research and manufacture them myself, spending my own money to research and manufacture them. When I felt it was effective, I boldly proposed to my superiors to implement the theme, take it to the competition and apply it in production.
I believe that such workers and laborers never thought of entering the Party as a means of decentralization or promotion. They continue to be diligent, make efforts, and contribute initiatives to bring benefits to businesses and the country.
Those simple people are proud to be under the Party flag, becoming pioneers.

Pioneering and volunteering in performing political tasks; in difficult tasks, new tasks; ready to share for the community; volunteering to go to remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas; to the poor and disadvantaged; ready to go anywhere, do whatever the Fatherland needs.
Pioneering in firmly protecting the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the nation and people; maintaining political security and social order and safety.
Pioneer for the Party's ideals, for the country of wealth and beauty, for the aspiration for prosperity and happiness.
