Workers working outdoors, working shifts have proper resting places
Ms. Ninh Thi Loan is a garbage collector at Hanoi Urban Environment Company, Hoan Kiem branch, with 20 years of attachment to the profession. That many years of working in a special environment with not short periods of time outdoors regardless of rain or shine; working shifts; there are many times facing dangers from nature, from factors on traffic roads. Therefore, Ms. Loan was very touched when witnessing the Workers' Dormitory being inaugurated and put into operation.
This worker dormitory project is built with a scale of 2 floors, a heat-resistant corrugated iron roof, a total area of more than 100m2. The project includes 8 rooms with a bunk bed system, meeting the accommodation needs of 48 workers at the same time.
The space is scientifically arranged, divided into separate male and female areas. To serve and care for the health of hard-working workers, the Workers' Dormitory is fully equipped with essential items such as toilets, electrical and plumbing systems, fans, storage cabinets and conditions to ensure environmental sanitation and labor safety.
Talking about her and her colleagues' work, Ms. Loan said that every day environmental workers usually start working from when the city lights up and end when the streets are about to enter a new day. Workers always need a clean and safe resting place to recover their health after work.
Most of the brothers and sisters are from other provinces, so they really need a stable place to live to feel secure in their work. When we learned that the company was building a worker's guesthouse, we were really excited. For direct workers like us, this is not only a place to stay but also a very practical concern, a great source of spiritual encouragement for brothers and sisters to become more attached to the profession" - Ms. Loan said.

There will be more worker dormitories to meet the aspirations of workers
Currently, Hanoi Urban Environment One Member Limited Liability Company has 19 member units with 4,993 officials and employees. Among them, there are more than 4,105 workers directly working in the field of environmental sanitation and urban infrastructure maintenance in the city.
The nature of the work makes workers often have to work outdoors, in shifts, with high labor intensity, and difficult mid-shift breaks. Many workers are from other provinces, living conditions are still poor, and they have to rent rooms far from their workplace, affecting their health and lives.
From that reality, with the role of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers, the Company's Trade Union has proactively advised the Party Committee, coordinated with the Company's Board of Directors to develop an investment project for Worker Guesthouses to improve resting conditions and restore health for direct workers.
After agreeing on the policy, the Company's Trade Union coordinated with specialized departments to survey the actual needs at production units, and selected a suitable location in the Lam Du vehicle team area to build the project. The design plan was carefully calculated, ensuring functional use, convenience, safety and economy.
According to the Company's Trade Union, in the coming time, it will continue to coordinate with professional departments to deploy the construction of another Workers' Guesthouse at Cau Dien branch. Along with that are more practical activities to care for the material and spiritual life of union members and workers; building a safe, civilized, and humane working environment; contributing to building an increasingly strong worker contingent.
Previously, the company effectively maintained the model of 5 Mobile Guesthouses serving workers. This is the first fixed accommodation building invested and built methodically, marking a new step in the company's work of caring for workers' lives. This reality shows that the Trade Union has met the aspirations of workers so that they can trust and love the unit more; trust and love the Trade Union organization.
