Functional agencies get involved
In the afternoon of May 16, reporters returned to the Bao Lam 4 commune waste landfill to record the work of overcoming the shortcomings and inadequacies that caused more than 7,000 tons of domestic waste to stagnate.

Real-world records show that at the landfill, there are 2 excavators digging and transporting the accumulated waste into landfill pits for treatment. However, this area is still suffocating due to the stench and flies still surrounding it.
Notably, the police agency is coordinating with relevant units to stretch ropes to cordon off the scene area of accumulated waste; and at the same time measure and statistically count the volume and time of accumulated waste.
Along with that, functional forces also collect dossiers and documents related to the process of managing and treating the amount of garbage accumulated at this landfill.
According to reporters' sources, the above move was directed by the leaders of Lam Dong Provincial Police to be implemented to investigate and verify the cause of prolonged accumulation of waste.

Functional agencies will also assess the impact of the amount of accumulated waste on the surrounding environment, and clarify the responsibilities of relevant agencies, units, and individuals if there are violations.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tam - Chairman of Bao Lam 4 Commune People's Committee said that the locality has assigned the Commune Police to coordinate with professional forces of the Provincial Police and relevant agencies to verify and clarify existing issues at the landfill.
Waste accumulated due to lack of funding?
Through actual inspection, Bao Lam 4 Commune People's Committee recorded that many internal roads in the landfill area were covered by garbage stretching hundreds of meters, with a total accumulated volume of about 7,000 tons.

Stagnant leachate water that has not been treated for a long time spreads foul odors on a large scale, seriously affecting the environment and the lives of surrounding people.
Mr. Tran Thanh Phong - Director of the Bao Lam Area Project Management Board said that the unit has sent a document to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province regarding the treatment of accumulated waste at the landfill.

According to Mr. Phong, the landfill is still managed by the Bao Lam Area Project Management Board and receives about 40 - 45 tons of domestic waste from communes in Bao Lam district (old) every day.
The reason for the large accumulation of garbage is that from the beginning of January 2026 to now, the unit has not been allocated funds to treat garbage," Mr. Phong informed.

Currently, the unit is proposing to the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment to use revenue from garbage collection services in the first 4 months of 2026 to treat the amount of accumulated waste and ensure environmental sanitation.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reflected: The situation of concentrated landfills in Bao Lam 4 commune is overloaded, causing garbage to accumulate for a long time, causing serious environmental pollution.
This is the place to receive household waste of 5 communes including: Bao Lam 1, Bao Lam 2, Bao Lam 3, Bao Lam 4 and Bao Lam 5.
However, for many months, the amount of garbage brought in has not been buried in time but is dumped rampant outside the prescribed area.

This situation causes the road to the landfill to be filled with garbage, emitting a foul odor, seriously affecting the lives of dozens of households living nearby.
Not only that, waste is also accumulated in many localities of Bao Lam district (old), especially in Bao Lam 1 commune, causing environmental pollution and unsightliness.
