Located on the small street of Kuznechny Pereulok (Russia), there is a house where time seems to have stopped. Museum of the great writer Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky (1821 - 1881) - one of the greatest writers of Russian and world literature.
He is famous for his profound philosophical and psychological novels such as: "Karamazov brothers" or "Crime and punishment" that deeply exploit human psychology in the political, social and spiritual context of Russian society in the 19th century.
Walking through the wooden door, visitors seem to immerse themselves in a separate, warm space with precious artifacts bearing the value of historical documents, where sometimes people can feel the breath and sweat of the writer. Each room in the museum can be considered a chapter in the life of a writer. A life full of ups and downs, hardship but also full of glory.
On the left is a 19th-century documentary photo of prisoners suffering in Omsk prison where the writer was imprisoned in harsh and inhumane conditions. And the figure on the right is a picture of a Russian Prisoner, depicted in an illustrative style based on Dostoyevsky's depiction in "Notes from the dead House" and the accompanying book (in a glass box) recording the observations, thoughts and stories he heard in prison. On the wall is a portrait of Dostoyevsky (middle) and his wife Anna (right). This is where he composed the last collection of Karamazov's Brothers. Photo: Viet VanThe room recreating the painting "Sixtine Madonna" (the work of Italian artist Raphael around 1513 -1514), was especially loved and mentioned by Dostoyevsky many times in his works. The room also displays the religious thoughts - philosophies of the writer about beauty and faith. Photo: Viet VanAnna Grigorievn Dostoevskaya, the second wife of writer Dostoevsky, was the one who assisted him in completing his works and helping him manage his finances. On the right is a page of an expressly signed handwritten copy written by her, demonstrating her important role in helping Dostoyevsky compose. Photo: Viet VanMs. Maria Fyodorovna Dostoevskaya is the mother of the writer, a gentle, pious woman who loves literature. She was the first person to read the bible to Dostoyevsky as a child, which he later repeatedly recalled as his deep spiritual origin. The open book in the middle is the parish book recording the birth and rua toi of the writer... Photo: Viet VanThe hand-wrapped cigarette box of the writer. Inside, there were still a few unsmoked cigarettes that Mrs. Anna kept after his death. Dostoyevsky is a heavy smoker, especially during his composition and mental crisis. His office, on a blue table, with double candles still there, handwritten leaves lying silently as if still containing ideas that had not been written yet... On the wall, the portrait of him and his wife Anna Grigorievnvn looking down gently, two people who have overcome many challenges in life and together holding on to the belief that beauty and compassion can save the world.
The room recreates the life and career of the great writer with many black and white photos and valuable artifacts to help viewers understand the source of Dostoyevsky's morality, spirit and religion, the foundation for the profound thoughts in all of his works. The children's room with wooden horses and small puppets, where is the laughter of the Lyubov girl that once rang out among the pages of the philosophical treatise. And in that space, the old, beating bible still lay open like an unfinished prayer.
The Dostoyevsky Museum not only preserves the belongings of a genie, but also carries the imprint of pain, faith, and light from the soul of a writer. Every breath, every look, seems to be perfect, whispering: Life, no matter how cruel it is, is still worth living, if we still know how to love.
