AI "infiltrates" every aspect of life
AI has become a trend applied in all aspects of economic and social life. In particular, AI is becoming an important trend in business operations. With the power of data analysis, prediction and providing optimal solutions, AI can improve work performance, optimize costs and resources, and provide personalized solutions for customer management and human resource management in businesses.
Currently owning a chain of 34 Shopdunk stores and 32 Samcenter stores (along with stores on e-commerce platforms TikTokshop, Shopee, Lazada), Mr. Doan Viet Dung - CEO of Hesman said that the company is currently operating a very large number of orders, many branches, many online stores, so the demand for digital transformation and AI application is very high. For example, in purchasing, Hesman has thousands of SKUs (item codes), so every day it needs to make decisions on what items to import, how many to import to optimize the minimum inventory index, maximum inventory, lowest import capital but still ensure the optimization of promotional programs from suppliers.
“If business problems are supported by AI, it will be very effective and time-saving. AI can provide the most effective import options, compare options so that managers can make the best decisions,” shared the CEO of Hesman.
Experts say that AI is increasingly becoming an indispensable part of modern life, bringing profound changes and creating great impacts on many areas of society.
Speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dao Trung Thanh - Deputy Director of the Institute of Blockchain Technology and Artificial Intelligence ABAII - shared that the AI wave is having profound impacts on many fields in Vietnam, from production to services and state management. Some key fields where AI is having a strong influence are production, customer service, human resource management, healthcare, transportation, etc.
Mr. Dao Trung Thanh gave an example in customer service, many businesses have applied AI to personalize customer experience. AI helps businesses analyze customer behavior, thereby providing appropriate services and products, contributing to improving satisfaction. In addition, AI is also applied in the recruitment process, helping to analyze candidate profiles and find the most suitable people for each position.
AI tools are capable of monitoring and evaluating employee performance, providing useful information for human resource development. Especially in the medical field, AI is being used to support diagnosis and treatment recommendations. AI systems can analyze medical images and patient data, helping to make more accurate decisions.
“In order not to miss out on opportunities from AI, Vietnamese businesses need to have a clear strategy and take specific steps. Training courses and seminars need to be organized to raise awareness of AI for all employees. This not only helps employees better understand the technology but also creates a solid foundation for applying AI to daily work.
However, businesses also need to realize that AI is not a magic solution; its application will require time and effort to be effective. Businesses should not hesitate to apply AI, because timing is very important. Starting now will help businesses optimize operations and improve business efficiency. By taking specific steps and having a clear strategy, Vietnamese businesses can make the most of AI, improve operational efficiency and create sustainable value in the future," Mr. Dao Trung Thanh affirmed.

Businesses Seize Opportunities to Grow in the AI Era
In the context of the global AI boom, Vietnamese startups are also quickly joining the new technology trend. Demand from the domestic market along with a series of open regulations and policies are providing the Vietnamese AI startup community with many opportunities to develop and expand.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Do Thang - CEO of SandboxVN said that AI has become an inevitable trend not only in business but also in daily life, opening up many application possibilities for all fields.
“As a business specializing in providing enterprise management software solutions, SandboxVN is seizing opportunities through the AI trend and strong digital transformation. With the goal of having 5,000 businesses using its solutions by 2028, SandboxVN is committed to helping businesses easily access and apply AI” - CEO of SandboxVN shared.
In recent times, the message of “the era of national rise” has been continuously emphasized and shared by senior leaders, which is a great motivation for startups, even very small ones, to clearly recognize their role and responsibility to participate in this movement to create great solidarity, thereby contributing to building great achievements for the nation.
According to Google research, the potential of AI in Vietnam is huge, with estimated economic benefits of up to VND1,890 trillion (US$79.3 billion) for businesses by 2030, if AI tools are widely applied. This figure is equivalent to nearly 12% of Vietnam's GDP by 2030.
According to Google's AI Opportunity Agenda for Vietnam, to fully exploit the potential of AI, Vietnam needs to strengthen its technical infrastructure for AI-based innovation, build an AI-ready workforce, and increase access to AI across the economy.
Accordingly, Vietnam needs to focus on retaining and developing domestic talent by expanding access to digital education and accelerating the implementation of corporate training programs. To maximize the economic benefits of AI, Vietnam needs to prioritize the development of a digital workforce. Closing the digital skills gap through specialized training and technology application will open up great economic potential for the country.
According to Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment - Do Thanh Trung, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has advised and submitted to the Prime Minister for approval the program "Developing human resources for the semiconductor industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050" in Decision No. 1017/QD-TTg, which proposes the goal that by 2030, Vietnam will have at least 5,000 engineers or higher with in-depth expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) to serve the semiconductor industry. At the same time, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has assigned the National Innovation Center to coordinate with domestic and international partners and experts to research and build an AI Training, Research and Application Center to serve AI business incubation, support AI research, application and in-depth training in AI with the goal of training 7,000 AI experts according to international standards and incubating about 500 AI startups by 2030. These are very proactive steps by the Ministry of Planning and Investment to realize the goal of Vietnam soon becoming a center for innovation, developing solutions and applying artificial intelligence in the ASEAN region and the world.
