Towards the team of grassroots trade union officials
The Bac Giang Provincial Federation of Labor in coordination with the Trade Union University has just organized a 2025 "L legal knowledge course for trade union officials" for 125 trade union officials.
Mr. Nguyen Van Giang - Chairman of the Trade Union of JA Solar Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Quang Chau Industrial Park, Viet Yen town, Bac Giang) - is one of the trainees attending the training class. He said that the class helped him grasp more knowledge about the Trade Union Law, Labor Law, Civil Law, laws on social insurance, health insurance, unemployment, occupational safety and hygiene... At the same time, he was equipped with many practical skills in grassroots trade union activities, especially in enterprises with a large number of workers such as: Skills in applying the law in labor relations, negotiation, negotiation, dispute resolution, propaganda and legal advice for workers.
The course not only helps me update information, basic knowledge, and new knowledge in the legal field, but is also an opportunity for union officials like me to have the opportunity to meet, exchange, and learn from colleagues, thereby improving their capacity and excellently completing assigned tasks - Mr. Giang shared.
The course is one of the activities of the Bac Giang Provincial Federation of Labor to train and foster a team of union officials. The project on "Training, fostering and providing professional training for grassroots union cadres to meet the requirements of tasks, especially union chairmen at non-state enterprises in Bac Giang province, period 2024 - 2028" was issued by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor on February 27, 2024.
To achieve the project's goals, the Provincial Federation of Labor has organized nearly 80 training and fostering classes for nearly 9,000 grassroots union officials and full-time officials. The training content is diverse, including: Skills in writing articles, taking photos, making clips; document and archive work; protecting State secrets; fire prevention and fighting; psychological consultation for workers; presentation skills in front of crowds...
Improving expertise, profession, and skills for grassroots trade union officials
Following the positive results achieved in 2024 and 2025, the Standing Committee of the Bac Giang Provincial Federation of Labor issued Project No. 09/DA-LDLD on "Training, fostering, and coaching trade union work for key trade union officials at enterprises with 500 or more employees, period 2025-2028". The goal is to build a team of grassroots union officials, especially union chairmen in non-state enterprises, with sufficient knowledge, expertise and capacity to organize and effectively perform union tasks at the grassroots level.
The project sets out the goal of focusing on propaganda to raise awareness of the position and role of Vietnam Trade Union in the political system and conditions for trade union activities in the new situation; opportunities and challenges in trade union activities in the face of international integration requirements... Every year, the Provincial Federation of Labor organizes at least 4 training courses to foster and train trade union skills and professional skills for key trade union officials of non-state enterprises with 500 or more workers.
Mr. Le Duc Tho - Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang Provincial Federation of Labor - said that with synchronous and active solutions, the training and fostering of trade union officials at all levels has brought about efficiency. Up to now, the province's full-time trade union cadres have generally had university degrees or higher in professional skills, intermediate degrees or higher in political theory; 100% of non-professional trade union cadres have been trained in trade union work.
According to Mr. Le Duc Tho, the work of training, fostering and coaching on expertise, profession and skills for trade union officials at all levels has contributed to standardizing full-time trade union officials; improving expertise, profession and skills for trade union officials at the grassroots level, especially in the non-state sector.
