On December 27, the Trade Union of Agriculture and Rural Development of Gia Lai province held the 5th Conference of the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the 7th term, 2023-2028.
In 2024, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to transform crop structure, expand production and apply advanced, economical irrigation technology and agricultural mechanization.
The units have guided businesses to speed up investment in crop cultivation projects, apply high technology, and develop livestock. Forest protection management boards, forestry companies, etc. have taken good care of planted forest areas.
In 2024, Gia Lai province had 3 occupational accidents in the industry due to objective conditions. Unions at all levels promptly visited and encouraged union members who had accidents and completed paperwork to apply for benefits and policies.
There are four collective labor agreements signed with many provisions more favorable to workers than those prescribed by law.
Mr. Tran Xuan Thach - Chairman of the Trade Union of Agriculture and Rural Development of Gia Lai province said that the trade union established a legal advisory group with 11 members, providing legal advice and support, resolving problems regarding regimes and policies for union members and workers in 25 cases. Thereby, creating trust among union members and workers in the trade union organization.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024, the industry union requested and was granted a visit and New Year gift by the Provincial Labor Federation to 16 union members in difficult circumstances, suffering from work accidents and serious illnesses.
Trade unions at all levels visited and gave gifts to encourage border posts, stations and forest protection management boards; grassroots trade unions visited more than 100 cases of difficult circumstances, supporting an average of 550,000 VND/person; and supported bus tickets for union members to return home for Tet.
Responding to the call for timely support for people in flood-hit areas facing difficulties due to storm No. 3 (Yagi), from August 12 to September 18, 2024, the Industry Union called for and mobilized support of more than 800 million VND, 20 tons of rice, and 5,000 packs of instant noodles.
The industry union also organized a launching ceremony and planted more than 1,000 scattered trees at Kon Ka Kinh National Park.
“In 2025, the Industry Union will continue to promptly resolve cases related to labor disputes, petitions, complaints, and recommendations from workers.
At the same time, organize the "Union Shelter" program well, take care of and help those who have had work-related accidents or serious illnesses, and direct the grassroots trade union to coordinate with employers to increase wages and income for workers," said Mr. Tran Xuan Thach.
