For more than 2 years, the "Trade Union Adoption" model implemented by the grassroots Trade Union of Elecem Cement Co., Ltd. (Thong Nhat Ward Trade Union) has become a support for union member families in difficult circumstances.
In early 2023, the family of Mr. Le Minh Thuan, Head of the cement grinding team, and Ms. Dang Thi Ha, a worker in the test team, both union members of Elecem Cement Co., Ltd., received news that their son, Le Minh Trong (born in 2011), had a malignant fibroid on his leg.
Since then, Trong has repeatedly traveled thousands of kilometers with his family from Gia Lai to Hanoi for treatment at Hanoi Children's Hospital and Xanh Pon General Hospital.
During the treatment process, he underwent 5 surgeries and 18 chemotherapy treatments. Although his condition gradually improved, Trong still had to have re-examination, monitoring and periodic treatment.
There were times when his health was not guaranteed, he had to drop out of school. When he stabilized, Trong tried to return to school. From a quick-witted, good student, he was once selected to participate in the provincial-level excellent student exam.
This year, Trong entered 9th grade but still has to arrange his studies and treatment courses in Hanoi.
In June 2024, the grassroots Trade Union of Elecem Cement Co., Ltd. implemented the "Trade Union Adoption" model, adopting Trong as an adopted son until the end of the 2023-2028 term.
According to the plan, the Trade Union supports tuition fees, school supplies and a part of monthly living expenses, with a total estimated amount of about 800,000 VND/month. The Trade Union also regularly visits and encourages families and provides quarterly support.
The funding is mobilized from company leaders, philanthropists, organizations, businesses and trade union funds. This companionship contributes to reducing difficulties and adding motivation for Mr. Thuan and Ms. Ha's family to feel secure in taking care of and treating their children.
