In Gia Lai province, industrial parks such as Tra Da and Dien Phu gather thousands of workers in processing factories. Every day, they have to work hard in production in the factory. Therefore, not all workers understand legal knowledge about labor, social insurance, salary regimes...
In May 2024, the Provincial Labor Federation organized a conference for dialogue, communication, and consultation on Social Insurance policies for union members and workers.
Attending the dialogue were 150 workers at the industrial park and representatives of business owners such as: Nutifood Cao Nguyen Factory, 26 Gia Lai Concrete Production Joint Stock Company, Truong Sinh Gia Lai Wine Company, Concrete and Electrical Construction Joint Stock Company…
Ms. Tran Thi Lanh - a worker at Olam Gia Lai Company shared: "When I was pregnant, I was very worried that I would be laid off without pay or that working long hours would make me tired. Thanks to the Union's advice, I learned more about the rights of female workers during pregnancy to ensure reproductive health."
Taking note of the union members' recommendations, Gia Lai Trade Union will make a proposal to the competent authority to supplement and amend the Health Insurance Law and related laws.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Vice President of Gia Lai Provincial Labor Confederation assessed: "Direct dialogues with union members and workers are very useful. Here, the unit shared and answered all problems and concerns of workers. The answers are based on current law. From there, employees learn more about their rights and obligations as well as the responsibilities of business owners."
Organize for workers to go sightseeing and travel
During Workers' Month 2024, under the direction of the Provincial Labor Confederation, 370 grassroots Trade Unions organized health checks and sightseeing and relaxation activities for 7,989 union members and workers.
Trade Unions at all levels also organized visits and supported 1,882 union members and workers suffering from accidents or serious illnesses in difficult circumstances.
Ms. Ha Thi Tham - a worker at the Wood Processing Factory in Dien Phu Industrial Park shared: "Due to flying sawdust, my eyes look blurry. I went to a private clinic for treatment but it didn't heal."
After that, I was introduced to Cao Nguyen Eye Hospital by the Union with preferential prices for union members. Here, I received treatment and advice from qualified doctors, so now my eyesight is clear, my health has improved, so I can continue to strive for work."
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Ha - Chairman of An Khe Sugar Factory Trade Union, Gia Lai said: "Every year during Tet, the unit gives gifts and buys bus tickets for workers to return home to celebrate Tet. The company also spends money to buy physical insurance for employees at a price of 200,000 VND/person/year. This year's Workers' Month, the factory organized a domestic tour for 265 union members with a support cost of 7,500,000 VND/person.
According to Gia Lai Provincial Union Federation, from the beginning of the year until now, the unit's Social Fund has considered supporting the construction and repair of 24 "Trade Union Warm" houses for union members with housing difficulties with a total of Support value is 1,055 billion VND.
In the Program "Giving ao dai, giving love, preserving traditional beauty", Trade Unions at all levels mobilized support for 2,828 sets of ao dai to be given to female union members, workers, and women in remote areas. , remote area…
