On October 20, at Yang Bay Tourist Park, the Khanh Viet Corporation (Khatoco) Trade Union in collaboration with Khatoco Ostrich - Crocodile Trading Company organized the contest "Food Festival - Delicious dishes from ostrich meat".
The contest "Food Festival - Delicious dishes from ostrich meat" attracted the participation of 15 teams with 60 non-professional chefs from grassroots unions under Khatoco and other units.
Each team consists of 4 members, including 3 male members, who will demonstrate their culinary talents within 90 minutes by preparing 3 dishes with the main ingredient being Khatoco ostrich meat.
The organizers provide the teams with ingredients including: Ostrich fillet, thigh meat, ostrich stomach, ostrich wings, ostrich neck, ostrich heart, ostrich toes. The judges of the competition are leading chefs and culinary experts in Khanh Hoa.
Coming from the Trade Union of Khatoco Phu Yen Tobacco Factory, Ms. Do Thi Hai Yen participated in the competition as a support member. “The first time we competed in an ostrich culinary competition, everyone in the team was very nervous. But after supplementing knowledge to prepare for the competition, everyone participated with great enthusiasm. Especially when there were many sisters from other units coming to cheer and encourage us, we were confident to show our best” - Ms. Yen shared.
For the first time taking on the role of chef with the culinary competition team, Mr. Nguyen Duy Vu - Chairman of Khanh Viet Corporation's Trade Union, together with his colleagues, researched the topic to create a meaningful dish for the beloved women and to convey the message of bringing ostrich meat products to the world. The dishes "Ostrich Onsen" and "Ostrich Stepping Up to Europe" are the two dishes that his team created and competed in the competition.
The festival not only creates an attractive playground for Khatoco's amateur male chefs to create new and nutritious dishes from the unit's food products, but also creates opportunities for visitors to Yang Bay tourist area to explore and experience cooking with the competing teams. Visitors can also enjoy culinary dishes made from ostriches. At the same time, they can learn more about the ostrich farming process, the tanning process and admire Khatoco's ostrich leather fashion products.
