Encourage workers to work through Tet
On January 23, a working delegation of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor visited, wished a happy new year and gave gifts to union members who had to work during Tet at the Nha Trang Tourism Cyclo Union, Khanh Hoa Electricity Joint Stock Company, and Nha Trang Station.
Here, Mr. Bui Dang Thanh - Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Federation of Labor - sent New Year greetings to the unit's leaders and all union members and employees who had to work during Tet. At the same time, he presented 50 Union Tet gifts to union members who were in difficult circumstances, celebrating Tet far from home and had to work during the Lunar New Year of At Ty. Each gift was worth 1 million VND, including a gift of 300,000 VND and cash of 700,000 VND.
Of which, 30 gifts were given to 30 union members in difficult circumstances, affected by natural disasters of Nha Trang Tourism Cyclo Union; 10 gifts were given to union members of Khanh Hoa Electricity Joint Stock Company working during Tet; 10 gifts were given to union members of Nha Trang Station area who had to work overtime during Tet.
Sharing with union members and leaders of units, Mr. Bui Dang Thanh emphasized: Over the years, Khanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor has always maintained activities of visiting, wishing a happy new year and giving gifts to union members and workers who have to work during Tet.
This is a practical encouragement for each union member when everyone gathers with their families to celebrate Tet together, due to the nature of their jobs, union members and workers in the Electricity and Railway industries must increase their presence to ensure electricity supply and smooth passenger transportation.
As for the members of the Nha Trang Cyclo Tourism Union, because they live in a tourist city, during Tet, everyone still goes to work to serve the needs of tourists who come to travel during Tet.
People who celebrate Tet late
Mr. Le Van Thuan - a meter reader at Khanh Hoa Electricity Joint Stock Company - will be on duty from the first to the second day of the Lunar New Year this year.
For Mr. Thuan, working through Tet or celebrating Tet late is no longer strange. Because of the nature of the profession, the more Tet holidays, the more the Electricity industry has to work to ensure lighting for every home.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hai Duc - General Director of Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company, during the 9-day Tet holiday, all company leaders did not travel far and were assigned to work on duty for 9 days. In addition to the production control and technical departments, this year the company will be on duty in information technology to make the greatest effort to ensure electricity supply and serve the people during the Tet holiday.
For Ms. Duyen (from Hung Yen), who has worked at Nha Trang Station for 15 years, every year during Tet, she and her colleagues take turns serving trains carrying people back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet and enjoy spring.
“Every day when I get on the train, I will welcome the train, check the train components, and work with the train drivers to guide passengers on and off the train… Every year, I work through Tet, whether it is New Year’s Eve or the first day of Tet. Because of the nature of my job, I usually celebrate Tet late, but now I am more excited because I receive an early Tet gift from the Union,” Ms. Duyen shared.
On the eve of the New Year, this female railway employee confided, "I just hope that the lives of officers and employees will improve further, and that I can occasionally return home to celebrate Tet because it has been 15 years since I have been able to return home to celebrate Tet with my family."
