On the morning of September 9, Ms. Dinh Thi Thuy Duong - Vice President of the Da Lat City Labor Federation said that in 2024, the unit was assigned by the Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation to establish 8 grassroots unions.
Up to now, the unit has mobilized the establishment of 13 grassroots trade unions in non-state enterprises. At the same time, the Dalat Technology Car Drivers Grassroots Union was established.
“This is the first grassroots union established in Da Lat and Lam Dong province. Of these, 49 Grab motorbike taxi drivers have joined this union,” added Ms. Dinh Thi Thuy Duong.
According to Ms. Duong, the unit has completed the target of establishing grassroots unions early, exceeding 175%. The number of new union members admitted since the beginning of 2024 is 746. To achieve this result, the unit assigned union officers to monitor and grasp each ward and commune.
Through the coordination and support of local authorities, the Union “Goes to every alley, knows every business”. Each unit has a suitable plan and scenario to approach and work with business owners. Thereby, the organization propagates and mobilizes workers to join the Union and establish a grassroots union .
According to Vice President of the Da Lat City Labor Federation Dinh Thi Thuy Duong, initially, many business owners did not agree. They did not support the establishment of a Trade Union at their unit for many reasons. Especially the fear that the Trade Union would affect production and business activities. Some businesses were also concerned and pondered about the Trade Union fees they had to pay...
Understanding this, the Union officials were determined to stick with it, meeting many times to lobby and explain the Union’s role as a companion. Especially building harmonious and stable labor relations in the enterprise…
“If the first time didn’t work, we came many times. Gradually, the business owner understood and supported the establishment of the Union,” said Ms. Dinh Thi Thuy Duong.
