On July 18, Vinh Phu Ward Trade Union announced that it had just organized the "Excellent Grassroots Trade Union Officials and Members" Contest in 2026, practically celebrating the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2026).
The contest gathered nearly 100 contestants who are members of the grassroots trade union executive committee, officials and union members. These are typical representatives of 247 grassroots trade union officials and 6,964 union members of grassroots trade unions directly under Vinh Phu Ward Trade Union.
Each team consists of 3 members, of which the team leader is a grassroots trade union official. The teams successively underwent 3 competitions including greetings, general knowledge and talented trade union officials.
In the greeting round, the teams introduced their units, members and trade union activities through elaborately prepared videos, showing the identity, solidarity and creativity of each grassroots trade union.
The general knowledge test consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, focusing on resolutions of trade union congresses at all levels; guidelines and policies of the Party; policies and laws of the State related to labor and trade union activities; inspection, supervision, and enforcement of trade union discipline and skills and nghiệp vụ of grassroots trade unions.
In the talented trade union official competition, the teams brought many singing, dancing, drama and art performances. The content of the performances is related to the lives of workers, activities to care for and protect union members, and practical stories at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the contest, Ms. Tran Le Thi - Chairwoman of Vinh Phu Ward Trade Union said that the contest is not only a playground but also a festival of bravery, intelligence and sense of responsibility of the team of officials and union members.
According to Ms. Tran Le Thi, in the context of development and integration, the Trade Union organization is facing many new requirements. The strength of the organization depends greatly on the enthusiasm, capacity and responsibility of the team of grassroots trade union officials - those who directly grasp the thoughts, aspirations and protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.
A trade union organization is only truly strong when there is a team of good officials, who not only understand the law but also understand the thoughts of union members and workers; and at the same time have active, proactive and closely attached union members to the organization" - Ms. Tran Le Thi emphasized.
Chairman of Vinh Phu Ward Trade Union said that through the contest, officials and union members have the opportunity to update and consolidate knowledge about the Labor Code, Trade Union Law, resolutions of trade union congresses at all levels and legal regulations directly related to workers.
The contest is also a forum for officials and union members to exchange and share practical experiences, practice skills and methods of trade union activities. Thereby, gradually improving the quality of grassroots trade union officials, bringing the resolutions of the Trade Union organization into practical life, contributing to building Vinh Phu Ward Trade Union to become increasingly strong.
At the end of the contest, the organizing committee awarded the First Prize to the Trade Union of Nghe An Friendship General Hospital; 2 Second Prizes to the Trade Union of 115 General Hospital and the Trade Union of Nghe An Mental Hospital.
Three Third Prizes were awarded to the Trade Union of Nghe An University, the Trade Union of Nghe An Eye Hospital and the Trade Union of Nghe An Traditional Medicine Hospital.
