On the morning of May 20, the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation organized a workshop to collect opinions on the Project "Focusing on representing and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests and improving the quality of life of union members and workers in the period 2026 - 2030" and the Project "Promoting the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions in Nghe An province in the period 2026 - 2030".
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Kha Van Tam - Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation emphasized that the two projects are the pillars of trade union activities in the new period. The organization of the workshop is not only to complete the document, but also to raise awareness of trade union officials at all levels about two core tasks: representing, caring for, protecting workers and developing union members, and establishing grassroots trade unions.
According to Mr. Tam, all policies that want to go into substance must start from the grassroots level, from those who directly work in trade unions and are closest to workers. Therefore, it is necessary to get widespread opinions so that the projects after promulgation are feasible and practical.

Regarding the work of caring for, representing, and protecting workers, the Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation said that the trade union has done a lot of work, but it is necessary to seriously recognize that some activities are still not deep and not truly sustainable. In the context of limited resources, the trade union needs to innovate the way of caring, not only paying attention to "what to give" but also considering "how to give", so that workers can more clearly feel the companionship of the trade union organization.
Mr. Tam also noted that caring for workers should not only stop at material support and gifts during holidays and Tet, but also pay more attention to spiritual life, culture, arts, sports and the working environment.
Regarding the development of union members and the establishment of grassroots trade unions, Mr. Kha Van Tam emphasized that this is a particularly important task in the context that businesses, especially non-state-owned enterprises and FDI enterprises, continue to develop rapidly. To expand the trade union organization, trade union officials must fully realize that this is a vital task, directly associated with the role of representing and protecting workers' rights right from the grassroots level.
According to the draft project, by early 2025, Nghe An province will have more than 15,500 operating businesses with more than 350,000 workers. In the economic zone and industrial parks alone, there are 170 businesses that have been put into operation, with more than 64,000 workers.

Meanwhile, as of March 2026, the whole province still has 482 domestic enterprises with nearly 36,000 workers that have not established grassroots trade unions. This reality raises the requirement that trade union levels must be more proactive in surveying, approaching businesses, and propagating and mobilizing workers to participate in trade union organizations.
According to the set target, by 2030, Nghe An strives to reach 200,000 - 210,000 trade union members; have 85% or more of employees in enterprises participating in trade union organizations.
At the workshop, Mr. Kha Van Tam requested the drafting department to absorb and filter the contributed opinions, and continue to concretize the groups of tasks and solutions in the direction of being close to grassroots levels, close to businesses, and close to employees.
Projects after promulgation must create substantive changes in caring for and protecting workers, and at the same time contribute to expanding union members and building strong grassroots trade unions in the period 2026 - 2030.
