As one of the 7 cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers (NLD) awarded the 2nd Huynh Ngoc Hue Award, 2024 at the end of September 2024, Mr. Nguyen Duy Xuyen - Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of Quang Nam Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited owns a huge record of achievements in innovative experiences.
Mr. Xuyen's latest initiative as a team leader and his colleagues is the project "Reporting table, forecasting data and automatically warning construction works during the flood season", completed after 5 months of research, finding solutions to simplify reporting and updating data of large reservoirs in Quang Nam during the storm season.
Mr. Xuyen said that Quang Nam Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited is managing and operating 17 large and medium reservoirs, 29 electric pumping stations, and 31 dams in Quang Nam. During the flood season, the unit arranges 30 personnel at 30 on-duty points across the province to monitor and report data on irrigation works 4 times a day so that authorities can promptly regulate the reservoir water source, ensure the safety of the dam and minimize damage to downstream areas.
“When applying the “Forecast Board”, the company only needs 1 person to operate on a smartphone. The forecast board will automatically calculate all required data according to regulations and automatically remind and warn if there are errors in water level data, flow through sewers, and spillways. Thereby, helping management ensure compliance with legal regulations as well as operating procedures of each project during the flood season” - said Mr. Nguyen Duy Xuyen.
Mr. Do Van Tung - Director of Quang Nam Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited - assessed that by minimizing personnel, the initiative has benefited the company more than 1 billion VND/year.
At the same time, completely eliminate manual data updates; Limit data errors during the flood season when information must be continuously updated.
Replicating advanced models
Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial Federation of Labor Phan Xuan Quang said that the Huynh Ngoc Hue Award aims to recognize and honor union members with outstanding achievements in patriotic emulation movements, especially the “Good Labor, Creative Labor” movement. The award is considered every 5 years, starting from 2019.
The selected individual must be a typical example for everyone to follow, learn from and replicate within the agency, unit, enterprise, industry, and locality. For cadres, civil servants, and public employees, there must be at least 3 recognized initiatives, new proposals, and solutions applied in work; and workers and laborers must have at least 2 applied initiatives...
“Through two times of organization, the Huynh Ngoc Hue Award has honored 14 bright examples of union officials and employees with dozens of useful initiatives and solutions applied to labor and production practices, helping to improve working conditions and environments for employees, saving costs, and generating billions of dong in profits for agencies and businesses. From there, there are conditions to better care for employees' lives, contributing to building sustainable development for agencies, units, businesses, and unions,” Mr. Quang assessed.
As a familiar face who has won many awards at the Quang Nam Provincial and National Technical Innovation Competition, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Chung - Chairman of the grassroots union of Company 1, under the Quang Nam Electricity Company union, shared that receiving the award named after comrade Huynh Ngoc Hue - one of the founders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and an Executive Committee member of the World Federation of Trade Unions is a great honor.
“To achieve this award, we had to pass a rigorous selection round, not only considering the effectiveness of our initiatives and experiences but also our contributions to the unit’s trade union activities and taking care of the material and spiritual lives of our employees. Therefore, the award is a great encouragement for trade union officials across the province to constantly innovate in their work and promote the representative role of the trade union organization,” said Mr. Chung.
