On December 25, the Thai Binh Provincial Federation of Labor held a conference to review the movement of workers, civil servants and laborers (CNVCLD) and trade union activities in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025.
In 2024, the labor movement and trade union activities in Thai Binh province will have many advantages. As of November 30, 2024, the total number of cadres, employees and workers in agencies, units and enterprises with trade unions is 190,421 people. The total number of union members is 176,657 people and the grassroots trade unions are 1,647 units (491 grassroots trade unions in the production and business sector).
Activities to care for union members and workers, especially workers in difficult circumstances, are organized and implemented by the Provincial Federation of Labor and trade unions at all levels in the province with many forms of care to ensure the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Provincial Party Committee.
Trade Unions at all levels organized 354 programs "Tet Sum Vay - Spring Sharing" and "Trade Union Tet Market", through which 279,576 union members and employees were visited and given gifts with a total cost of more than 94.4 billion VND. At the same time, 913 union members and employees whose working hours were reduced or their labor contracts were terminated were supported with a total amount of more than 907 million VND; 35 "Trade Union Shelters" were built, with a total cost of more than 1.7 billion VND.
During Workers' Month and Labor Safety and Hygiene Action Month, Trade Unions at all levels organized labor safety and hygiene training and health check-ups for 62,877 workers.
The Provincial Federation of Labor and the grassroots trade union have promptly supported 1,264 union members and workers affected by storm No. 3 with a total budget of VND 812.5 million.
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Ha - Member of the Presidium, Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor highly appreciated the work of building a strong Trade Union organization of the Thai Binh Provincial Labor Federation, with a high rate of grassroots unions (56 newly established grassroots unions), recruiting more than 21,000 new union members, reaching 121% of the target assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Vice Chairman of Thai Binh Provincial Federation of Labor said that the key task of 2025 is for all levels of the provincial Union to continue to do a good job of caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and employees; strengthen legal consultancy activities, promptly detect and handle arising issues and collective work stoppages, and prevent complicated situations at the grassroots level.
There are solutions to organize and implement to achieve and exceed the assigned targets of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions by 2025. Increase training courses on professional skills and trade union activities for union officials at all levels, especially Chairmen of grassroots unions of non-state enterprises.
At the conference, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded the Emulation Flag for excellent units, leading the emulation movement of workers and trade union activities in 2024 to the Thai Binh Provincial Federation of Labor. Many outstanding collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions in 2024 received the emulation flag and certificates of merit from the Provincial Federation of Labor.
