Bonus level for police officers awarded the Medal for National Security

The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

Article 54 of the Law on Emulation and Commendation 2022 stipulates as follows:

1. Medals are awarded or posthumously awarded to soldiers, workers, civil servants, and defense officials of the People's Army; officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, and workers working in agencies and units under the People's Public Security who have had a good working process and completed their assigned tasks; foreigners who have made many contributions to the construction and protection of the Fatherland of Vietnam.

2. Medals include:

a) The Victory Flag Medal;

b) "Medicine for National Security";

c) "Great Soldier Medal" First, Second, Third Class;

d) Friendship Medal.

Article 56 of the Law on Emulation and Commendation 2022 stipulates that "Medicals for National Security" are awarded or posthumously awarded to officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, and workers working in agencies and units under the People's Public Security with a continuous working process of 25 years or more, who have successfully completed their assigned tasks.

Article 55 of Decree 152/2025/ND-CP (effective from July 1, 2025) stipulates the level of Medal bonuses as follows: Individuals awarded or posthumously awarded Medals are specified in Clause 2, Article 54 of the Law on Emulation and Commendation, are awarded a Certificate, frame, Medal, Medal container and are awarded 1.5 times the basic salary.

According to Decree 73/2024/ND-CP, the current basic salary is 2,340,000 VND/month.

Thus, from July 1, 2025, if police officers are awarded the Fatherland Security Medal, they will be awarded VND 3,510,000 (VND 2,340,000 x 1.5) according to the above regulations.
