At the end of the group stage, the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian tournament has determined the 4 best teams to qualify for the semi-finals.
In Group A, host U23 Indonesia won the top spot with 7 points after 3 matches (2 wins, 1 draw). Ranked second in the group and also the second team with the best record in the semi-finals is U23 Philippines with 6 points. This is the first time in the history of this team that they have passed the group stage at the U23 Southeast Asian tournament.
In Group B, U23 Vietnam won both matches, convincingly winning the group. U23 Thailand is the leading team in Group C after 2 consecutive wins, also easily participating in the round for the 4 strongest teams.
According to the organizing committee's branch, U23 Vietnam will face U23 Philippines in the first semi-final. This is considered a favorable opportunity for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team, because compared to Thailand or Indonesia, the Philippines is considered an easier opponent.
However, the clear progress of the U23 Philippines in this year's tournament makes them still a noteworthy unknown.
The remaining semi-final match between U23 Thailand and U23 Indonesia promises to be very dramatic, because both are leading candidates for the championship and possess a quality, even squad. The confrontation between the two "big guys" of Southeast Asia will be the focus of the knockout round.
The two semi-final matches will take place on July 25 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (Indonesia).
