It is necessary to have mechanisms for young people to start businesses initially, such as reducing location rental costs by 50-65%

Many young people when returning to their hometowns start businesses almost start from scratch. Therefore, support mechanisms such as site rental costs are needed for development.

It is necessary to focus resources on forming typical youth startup models

On the afternoon of June 24, at the Forum "Vietnamese Youth pioneers in starting a business, establishing a career, and developing the country's economy" within the framework of the 13th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, term 2026 - 2031, Mr. Lai Hoang Nam - Member of the Provincial Youth Union Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Lang Son Provincial Investment and Entrepreneurship Club shared some practical experiences and proposals to develop an ecosystem to support youth entrepreneurship and career development in the coming period.

According to Mr. Nam, firstly, it is necessary to strengthen coordination between the Youth Union organization and state management agencies, businesses and startup support organizations to accompany, orient and promptly remove difficulties for young people.

Through dialogue programs with youth, investment promotion activities, trade and tourism, youth have conditions to access faster mechanisms and policies to support economic development, especially in areas with local strengths such as community tourism, agriculture and border trade.

Second, it is necessary to build a community of young startups and young entrepreneurs who are connected and support each other.

Accordingly, members are encouraged to prioritize using and promoting each other's products; connect OCOP products and typical economic models to participate in trade promotion activities.

At the same time, organize training programs, share business management experiences, business skills and market development suitable to the practical needs of young people.

Third, promote the startup movement through creative idea contests, thereby discovering and fostering potential models. Many startup models have gradually developed effectively, contributing to affirming the role of youth in local economic development.

From that reality, Mr. Lai Hoang Nam proposed a number of solutions to develop an ecosystem to support youth startups and career establishment in the period 2026 - 2031, such as strengthening startup thinking, innovation and business capacity education for youth right from school.

It is necessary to focus resources on forming typical youth startup models, capable of leading and spreading. Potential models need to be prioritized for support in terms of capital, technology, training, consulting and market connection, thereby creating successful examples to replicate nationwide.

Mr. Nam also proposed promoting regional linkages, production linkages and building a common brand for youth startup products. Models need to be encouraged to link together along the value chain to improve production scale, competitiveness and ability to participate in domestic and international markets.

I believe that, with the companionship of the Youth Union organization, the involvement of all levels and sectors, and the proactiveness and creativity of each young person, we will gradually build an ecosystem to support young people to start businesses and establish businesses practically, effectively and sustainably; contributing to forming a generation of Vietnamese youth who are brave, creative, and pioneers in participating in the country's economic development," Mr. Lai Hoang Nam emphasized.

Many products of young people are still struggling to find outlets.

Mr. Nguyen Hieu Trung - Deputy Secretary of Dong Nai Youth Union said that in Dong Nai, the locality is building an ecosystem to support youth startups in the field of digital transformation. However, the connection between localities, provinces, and cities is still limited, causing the sharing of experiences and mutual support in model development not to achieve the expected effectiveness.

Especially in the field of high-tech agriculture, many young people are facing difficulties in product output. After merging administrative units, Dong Nai has typical products such as pepper and cashew with many OCOP products achieving 3 to 4 stars.

However, product consumption still faces many obstacles, and there is no stable consumption mechanism. Similarly, for the field of digital transformation in fruit tree production, localities have not yet connected with large agricultural enterprises to form a sustainable consumption chain.

Many products of young people are still struggling to find outlets. Many young people are reduced motivation due to lack of connection with the market. Therefore, in addition to the Luong Dinh Cua network, it is necessary to supplement mechanisms to support young people to introduce technology, promote and connect product consumption," Mr. Trung proposed.

The second is the issue of capital sources. According to Mr. Trung, currently the coordination with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies in supporting loans for youth is being implemented quite effectively. However, loan capital sources managed by the Youth Union organization in the locality are still limited.

In Dong Nai, loan packages for young people are currently mainly at about 100 million VND, not meeting the needs of expanding production and business of many startup projects.

I propose that the Central Government study and propose more mechanisms and policies on credit and mortgage for youth startup projects. At the same time, consider increasing the borrowing limit for feasible projects to create conditions for young people to expand production and business scale," Mr. Trung proposed.

According to Mr. Trung, in the long term, there still needs to be broader connections between localities and startup groups. Many young people who are former IT students, who used to work in Ho Chi Minh City with an income of 30-40 million VND per month, have returned to Dong Nai to start a business with the desire to create technology products to serve their homeland.

When returning to the locality, you almost start from scratch. Only when you create products and are welcomed by the market do you have income. Therefore, the locality is advising on a number of support mechanisms, including policies to support from 50 - 65% of location rental costs and some initial operating conditions for startups in the field of digital transformation," Mr. Trung said.
