Not only stopping at representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers, the Trade Union is now an important pillar in consolidating the great national unity bloc, inspiring creativity, and promoting the country's innovation.
From constitutional aspiration to organizational practice
The revised 2025 Constitution has officially recognized the Vietnam Trade Union as "the only representative of workers at the national level in labor relations and international relations on trade unions", and at the same time became a member organization under the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
This is not only an elevation of political position but also a call for the Trade Union organization: Strong and comprehensive innovation in organization, functions, and methods of operation must be necessary to be worthy of the role of "only representative".
Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son - National Assembly Delegate - commented: "The return of the Trade Union to the common roof of the Front is not only an organizational event, but a major turning point in awareness, aspiration and role in the new development stage of the nation". The Vietnam Trade Union - an organization born from the workers' movement, maturing with the revolution - now has more conditions to become a core in the mechanism of social supervision and criticism, in the unity between the people's heart and the Party's will.
From caring to creating
reality has proven the persistent and close role of the Trade Union organization over the past 9 decades. In the first 6 months of 2025, Trade Unions at all levels have implemented a series of practical and effective activities: more than 11.35 million union members have enjoyed care policies; more than 2.3 million people have received Tet gifts; more than 1,400 Trade Union Shelters have been built and repaired; thousands of new collective labor agreements have been signed and quality has improved...
Workers' Month 2025 with the slogan "Vietnamese workers pioneer in entering a new era" is not only an action slogan, but has truly become a wave of spreading inspiration, connecting, and encouraging workers to overcome difficulties, accompanying businesses and the country.
The Trade Union organization is gradually shifting from "individual care" to "building sustainable welfare", from reflecting aspirations to proactively creating policies. Social dialogue programs, collective bargaining, raising the value of shift meals, improving working conditions, taking care of the spirit of "cultural - educational" ... are showing that the Vietnam Trade Union not only plays a good role in protecting, but is also a creative force, accompanying and supporting workers.
Listen and lead in great solidarity
Becoming an official member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front helps the Trade Union participate more deeply in major issues of the country. However, that also requires the Trade Union organization to have the ability to listen, understand, orient and lead workers in major changes in mechanisms, policies and the labor market.
In the period of arranging administrative units, streamlining the apparatus and converting the two-level local government model, workers are being affected by many factors: Changing workplaces, reallocating staff, adjusting living conditions... In that context, the Trade Union needs to promote its role as a "social buffer", protecting stability, maintaining trust and creating a support for workers to settle down and start a business.
With a network of more than 8 million union members, spread across industries and regions, the Vietnam Trade Union is the "eyed" of the Front in grasping the grassroots situation, shaping public opinion, discovering and honoring advanced models.
From the role of "reflecting" the representative, the Trade Union must rise to the role of "creating" and "re Proposing" - that is, becoming a force contributing to policy development from the root, instead of just adjusting from the top.
To carry out the new mission, the Vietnam Trade Union needs a strong innovation in both organization and methods of operation. That is the shift from socialization to service; from form to substance; from the mechanism of asking - giving to creating and proactively reaching more workers.
The trade union must become a "trusted address", where workers can express their voices, thoughts and aspirations; a place to inspire dedication and creativity; a place to protect professional ethics, office culture, and industrial life.
With its new role, the Trade Union needs to expand and improve the quality of social dialogue and collective bargaining, linking the interests of workers with production efficiency, and building harmonious and progressive labor relations.
In particular, in the digital age and international integration, Trade Unions need to proactively participate in building policies on labor, employment, and social security; building a trade union model in the digital economy, in non-traditional enterprises, in the freelance workforce, etc.
96 years of accompanying workers and laborers - Vietnam Trade Union has overcome difficult periods, proving its vitality and authenticity in the political and social life of the country. Becoming a member directly under the Vietnam Fatherland Front and being recognized by the Constitution as the "only representative" is not only an honor, but also a responsibility.
That responsibility is not light, but also inspiring because it means a new vision: Building a modern working class, a team of knowledgeable, creative, disciplined workers, capable of mastering their own destiny in the new era.
