Having a new house in time before the rainy and storm season
On the day of moving the last items into the new house, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, residing in Tam Anh commune, Da Nang, was still moved. After many years living in a dilapidated old house, with leaking roofs and cracked walls, her family finally had a solid place to live before the rainy and storm season began.
The house was completed after more than a month of construction, replacing the house that was seriously damaged, always posing a danger every time heavy rain and strong winds occur.

The old house was built a long time ago, every rainy season the whole family has to take basins and basins to collect water. Many places the walls have cracked, but we don't have money to repair them. Being supported with 100 million VND to build a new house, the family seems to be relieved of a burden," Ms. Huong shared.
This is one of 5 houses that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tam Anh commune coordinated with businesses to simultaneously start construction from the beginning of June 2026. Each household is supported with 100 million VND to build houses.
According to Mr. Duong Van Bao - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tam Anh commune, from the beginning of the year to now, the locality has mobilized to build 7 new houses for difficult households, with a total cost of 670 million VND.
In the coming time, the locality will continue to review poor households, policy families and cases with degraded houses to mobilize businesses and philanthropists to support.
In Quang Phu ward, the "House of Compassion" house dedicated to Ms. Le Thi Huong, residing in Tam Phu block, is also being urgently completed.
The level 4 house has an area of about 36m2, with a total construction cost of more than 100 million VND. In which, the Commune Women's Union coordinated with charity groups to mobilize support of 70 million VND. The remaining funding was contributed by the family and relatives, along with the working day support of neighbors.
Ms. Huong is in difficult circumstances, raising two young children alone. Unstable income made the desire to build a safe house once too much for the three mothers and children.
More resources to eliminate more than 5,300 temporary houses
According to preliminary statistics from the Da Nang City Department of Agriculture and Environment, the whole city currently has 5,324 households in need of support to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.
Among these, there are 4,035 poor and near-poor households; 660 households of people with meritorious services to the revolution; 144 households who are children of resistance activists infected with chemical toxins and 485 households in other difficult areas.
Faced with the reality of high prices of building materials and labor, the old level of support is assessed to be no longer enough for households to complete a quality-assured house.
From the proposal of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, at the specialized meeting at the end of June 2026, the Da Nang City People's Council of the XI term passed a resolution stipulating a number of specific poverty reduction policies.

According to the resolution, the level of support for building new houses is increased to 100 million VND per house, and repair support is 50 million VND per house. The policy also expands the beneficiaries for poor and near-poor households whose houses are heavily damaged or destroyed by natural disasters.
The total estimated budget for policy implementation each year is about 490 billion VND. Of which, the city budget allocates about 319 billion VND; the "For the Poor" Fund and other legal sources contribute about 171 billion VND.
Increasing the support level also helps people have more conditions to build solid houses, suitable for the requirements of disaster prevention and control in the locality.
