At the program, reporting on the results of implementing the Resolution of the VII Congress, Colonel Vu Minh Thuc - Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Movement Department of the Vietnam Veterans Association said that in the past term, the Vietnam Veterans Association has achieved comprehensive results, affirming its role as a prestigious socio-political organization, a reliable support of the Party, State and people. The entire Vietnam Veterans Association has 324,602 members who are Party members elected to attend Party Congresses at all levels, and 129,771 Party members who are members elected to Party committees...

The movement of CCBs helping each other reduce poverty, doing good economics, improving living standards; actively participating in socio-economic programs of the locality and the whole country continues to be effectively implemented. Accordingly, the entire Association removed 16, 223 dilapidated houses and temporary houses for members; built/donated 12,430 houses of "Veteran Affection" with a total budget of 944.4 billion VND... Implementing gratitude and repayment activities, donating houses of "Veteran Affection" with the amount of: 971.4 billion VND; The Association has coordinated to search for and repatriate 20,725 sets of martyrs' remains; coordinated DNA testing to identify the identities of sets of martyrs' remains in 6,337 cases...
Regarding directions and key tasks for the term, the 8th Congress, the Vietnam Veterans Association will focus on discussing and deciding on major and breakthrough goals and targets to innovate the Association's operating methods. The Vietnam Veterans Association identifies 7 main targets, proposes 5 groups of tasks and solutions.
The Congress identified focusing on 2 breakthrough stages: Building lean, compact, strong Association organizations, exemplary and typical association officials at all levels; actively, proactively, and effectively implementing digital transformation work.
Also according to Mr. Thuc, the VIII National Congress of the Vietnam Veterans Association, term 2026-2031 will take place in Hanoi Capital from June 15-17, 2026 with the participation of 458 official delegates, representing more than 3 million veteran members nationwide and 150 guest delegates.
Speaking at the meeting, Lieutenant General Khuat Viet Dung emphasized that the VIII Congress is a socio-political event of particular importance, contributing to promoting the strength of great national unity after the National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

According to Lieutenant General Khuat Viet Dung, the VIII Congress takes place in the context of the country facing many intertwined opportunities and challenges.
