In recent times, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Can Tho City has promoted its role as a bridge between the Party, government and people, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc. Notably, the innovation of content and methods of operation is in the direction of being close to the people, close to the people, and strongly towards the grassroots. Social supervision and criticism work has been carried out more and more substantially; patriotic emulation movements, campaigns such as "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas", "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods", "The whole country joins hands for the poor" ... have been effectively implemented, creating a wide spread in the community.
From the beginning of the 2024 - 2029 term to now, the Front system at all levels has coordinated to mobilize more than 35.5 billion VND for social security programs, mobilizing the "For the Poor" fund of more than 132 billion VND.
From the "For the Poor" and socialized funds, the Front at all levels has deployed the construction and repair of 920 Great Unity houses, with a total value of more than 47 billion VND. The member organizations of the Front have deployed the construction and repair of 438 houses for union members and association members in difficult circumstances with a total value of more than 21 billion VND.
The Front at all levels coordinated with member organizations and religious establishments to mobilize and present more than 12,210 gifts, worth more than VND5.6 billion to policy families, poor households, near-poor households, and households in especially difficult circumstances.
In addition, the City Front has directed socio-political organizations to mobilize people's strength and social resources to take care of social security, contributing to stabilizing people's lives, especially poor, near-poor households and disadvantaged people.
Some typical models have been and are being replicated such as "S type of residential area", "Light - green - clean - beautiful road", "Security camera" or "urban bell".
These models not only contribute to maintaining order, security, and environmental protection, but also create a united and civilized community living environment. More importantly, the models all come from the practical needs of the people and are responded to by the people, clearly demonstrating the motto "People know, people discuss, people do, people check, people benefit".
Social security work has always been a key task of the Front at all levels. In the past term, the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels has mobilized tens of billions of VND to build and repair thousands of Great Unity houses, support livelihoods and scholarships for poor students who are studious and care for people during the Lunar New Year and natural disasters and epidemics.
The Front also actively mobilizes businesses and benefactors to accompany in the programs "Social security - For community life", contributing to sustainable poverty reduction, leaving no one behind. Responding to the emulation movement "Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025", the Front at all levels in the city coordinates with member organizations, socio-political organizations to focus on propaganda and mobilizing organizations, businesses and individuals to contribute money, labor days...
As of June 30, Can Tho City (new) has completed the plan to respond to the emulation movement to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area with a total of 11,462 newly built and repaired houses, with a total cost of more than 598 billion VND.
