Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Tien Hung - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, Secretary of the Hanoi Youth Union - said that after two years of implementing the project to restore martyrs' photos, up to now, the Hanoi Youth Union has restored 596 photos. In the coming time, it is expected to continue to restore more than 400 photos to present to the martyrs' families.
At the program, the Hanoi Youth Union presented 300 restored martyrs' photos to relatives of the families. Each photo is a recreation of memories, contributing to depicting the image and youth of those who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Hung, the Martyrs' Photo Restoration project is not only an activity of gratitude but also demonstrates the responsibility of the younger generation in preserving and spreading historical values, connecting the past with the present, so that the sacrifices of the heroic martyrs continue to guide the current and future generations.
Within the framework of the program, delegates, union members and young people interacted with historical witnesses and veterans who had experienced the fierce war years. The shared stories contribute to helping the young people of the capital understand more deeply the tradition of steadfast and indomitable struggle of their ancestors.
The project "Restoration of martyrs' photos" was implemented by the Hanoi Youth Union from 2024. Phase 1 will coordinate with the "Red Flower Color" Group, phase 2 will coordinate with the Skyline Group. As of December 12, 2025, the total number of restored martyrs' portraits is 659.
From the black and white photos that have fading over time, even leaving only a few details, through technical and technological solutions, the image of martyrs has been recreated more clearly, contributing to bringing the heroic martyrs "back" to their families with complete images.
