On May 10, news from Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee directed the implementation of support to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for subjects who are biological children of resistance war activists infected with chemical toxins.
According to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, departments, agencies, branches, People's Committees of communes, wards, and special economic zones coordinate with the army to promote the mobilization of people to participate in support in the spirit of "whoever has what helps, whoever has what helps, whoever has merit helps".
The locality is requested to urgently inspect, review, identify and summarize the list of cases in need of support, ensuring publicity, transparency, correct subjects, on schedule and in accordance with regulations.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to specifically guide the criteria for determining housing eligible for support; and at the same time announce some typical housing models suitable to the actual conditions of each locality.
House models are accompanied by cost estimates, materials and technical instructions for people to refer to and choose.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment is responsible for specifically guiding the criteria and conditions for residential land for localities to use as a basis for implementing in accordance with regulations.
Meanwhile, the Department of Home Affairs is the focal agency to monitor and urge units and localities to review beneficiaries to ensure accuracy, completeness, avoid omissions or duplication; and at the same time, appraise the list of beneficiaries who are children of resistance activists infected with chemical toxins who need to repair and build houses to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and approval.
According to the Steering Committee for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses of Khanh Hoa province, the whole province has 1,326 households eligible for housing construction and repair support, including 462 newly built houses and 864 repaired houses.
By the end of April 2025, Khanh Hoa had comprehensively completed the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, exceeding the Government's schedule by about 6 months and becoming one of the first 15 localities in the country to basically complete this program before April 30, 2025.
The total implementation cost is more than 65.3 billion VND, of which the "For the Poor" Fund of the province supported more than 53.6 billion VND, and the rest was contributed by households.
The level of support for new construction is 60 million VND/unit, repair is 30 million VND/unit. The houses after support all meet the "3 solid" standards, minimum area of 30m2, lifespan of over 20 years, meeting the basic living needs of the people.
In 2026, Khanh Hoa province will continue to review and support the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses for specific groups, including children of resistance activists infected with chemical toxins.
